I had Primanti's today for the first time. I got pastrami extra meat. It was good, but I didn't think it lived up to its hype.

This is only partially true. JJ keeps delivery areas relatively small, thus ensuring fast delivery times. Some locations are more lax about delivering outside the area, but most are pretty strict about staying inside. Most JJ's are primarily car delivery, though, so the commercials are pretty misleading.

Pretty subpar food, but it's a step up from Subway.

That said, it's definitely not the best...by a long shot. I honestly don't see too many of those other stores much in the South.

I like subway as well. Not too many of these in the south. Jimi johns just opened in the Jackson MS area.

Yea, I get that, but I figured it'd at least be 2 miles. With how many drivers they staff and how infrequently they let them take multiple runs at once, I figured they could still maintain fast times with a 2 mile area.

It's definitely subpar food, but I just didn't want to leave my house.

Really can't believe Jimmy John's won this poll. They are just sandwiches you can make at home. No toasting, no special sauce; just meat, cheese, bread. The only reason I ever ate there was because in college they were the only place open at 3 a.m.

lol, No, my angle is understanding that to buy food at any restaurant, you have to suspend disbelief to a certain extent. You are in effect admitting that the establishment is giving you something that you can't make yourself for a lesser price. My problem with JJ's is that they don't seem to be making any effort to try and convince the customer they are giving them something that is worth the price. Other sandwich shops have certain "perks" they add to the basic sandwich formula. Jimmy John's seems content to offer just a plain old sandwich, for a ridiculous price given the circumstances.

Line at mine didn't look too bad so we waited for about 5-10 minutes. We got up to the door and saw that once inside, the line snaked all the way to the back of the store, back up front, and then to the registers. A girl who was then all the way up to the front of the store (so a few people away from ordering) said she was going on 40 minutes. So we went elsewhere too.

For my two cents, I just like JJ's bread. I know I can get better subs elsewhere but sometimes I want a cheaper, quicker sub, and it's certainly better than Subway.

I have no idea what a hoagie is. Everything on Long Island and NYC is called a hero. And Subway is the worst, simply because their meat is already cut. I like to see it in the meat cutter thing like Blimpie does. Sandwiches that look like this are pretty much the norm here:

Edit: Also, there is a new chain called FireHouse Subs that just opened by me. Been meaning to try it, but its hard to deviate from the corner deli where you know exactly what youre gonna get. http://www.firehousesubs.com/
