"Pepsi announced today that it will re-release its clear cola from the 1990s, Crystal Pepsi, for a limited time. The only way to get it is to sign up for a sweepstakes through the brand's loyalty program, Pepsi Pass, and 13,000 winners will score a complimentary six-pack of the transparent soda.

Nineties kids have a limited window to enter Pepsi's sweepstakes: It is only running from noon ET on Dec. 10 until midnight on Dec. 11. The promotion is also only available to U.S. residents."

It was just the 20ozs. When I got there there were only 5 left in the whole store and they said they put them out that morning so they sold pretty quick.

This is probably just batches that were left over from the 90's

I wonder if the plastic bottle will affect the taste though. I'm pretty sure you could only get them in cans or in a small 6 pack of glass bottles. Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I seem that plastic bottles didn't become the norm until after Pepsi Clear.

PET (aka the plastic) will have a slight affect on the taste in the following ways:

1. it will lose roughly about 20% of its carbonation by the time it reaches the consumer. This will depend on the thickness of the PET Pepsi used.

2. PET will also alter the taste depending on the length of time the product has been in the bottle. This along with loss of carbonation is why there are expiration dates on the bottle.

3. It will also depend on if it is virgin PET or rPET (recycled) PET. Virgin PET can affect the taste if the bottle was not given enough time to cool after the blow molding process. AA (an acid) can mix with the product if the blow molding process and filling process are inline (meaning they happen at the same time). PET should be given time to condition at room temp for around 2 weeks.

rPET can impact the taste based on what type of rPET is in the resin. Is it post consumer or post industrial?

Hope this helps. BTW I am a packaging engineer at Colgate-Palmolive and have spent my summer working on our Mouthwash products and the taste implications of using PET in the packaging. So I don't just randomly know this

I don't drink soda and I hate Pepsi. I found a 20oz of this and tried it. It was much better than I thought it would be.
