Re: ~Official Pearl Jam Appreciation Thread~

I've never actually gotten mad at a concert until last night. Lukin is by far my favorite Pearl Jam song and when it hit I was going pretty nuts and then it got stopped in the middle so Eddie could talk shit to someone in the crowd (it all seemed a little staged to me). Why stop the song in the middle to talk nonsense to the guy in the crowd when it's a 1:14?

I think the guy was fighting a girl...Sophia Bush (from One Tree Hill, Chicago PD fame) posted an Instagram post about Eddie stopping the show to yell at some guy arguing with his gf

Yeah, I understood the circumstances, I just think he didn't have to stop the song to call the bastard out. Ruined my Lukin.

I think his exact words were Hey, you get your finger out of her face... the whole crowd is looking at YOU.

but then they played Mind Your Manners so part of me thinks this may have not been coincidental.

I had some friends who were in that area and they said there was a fight earlier and then the guy went after the girl during Lukin and Eddie must have seen that. I guess she ended up getting helped out soon after that.

Well that dirtbag needs to get punched for messing up Lukin (and for going after the girl of course)

My first Crazy Mary sent me back to my happy place though. I got 5/6 songs I wanted to hear which is great.

Some people on the PJ board said a girl had passed out and they were trying to get her to the front to get her out of the pit cause she was out cold. There was a drunk douchebag who had been causing problems all night and he was bumped as people were trying to get the girl out of the pit to safety. That's when he put his finger in her face. It's why Eddie asked if the girl was all right as she apparently came to as they were handing her over the rail.

I thought last night was better than Saturday, but I was also in GA last night. They were on fire after Off He Goes and didn't let up. What a great show.

would have enjoyed either night immensely but given the choice I'd pick night 2 every time and it's not particularly close

honestly from N1, there is a 10 song stretch (Sad-I am a patriot) that is pretty meh to me personally (although it did include I got shit which is a personal fave) and then another 4 song lull (bee girl-let me sleep) closely following

I know that light years is a big fave around here but it's not for me

I enjoyed N1 a lot - I Got Shit was a huge highlight for me, but N2 was just excellent except for that dumbass fanboy song, but unfortunately they played that both nights.

Ed's been doing that for years. I'm guessing a lot of is PTSD from Roskilde

They kicked the dude out though because he was pushing a girl and apparently looked like he was going to punch her.

I thought it was pretty cool they went back into Lukin then MYM.

I don't know if you can hear it, but right after Release I had my air horn going as it's just an epic opener for an epic arena. But the damn thing kicked the bucked right after.

I saw Pearl Jam for the first time at Wrigley last night, and was highly, highly impressed. As of right now, I'm primarily familiar with the hits and a handful of deeper cuts. So, I have a question: what are some of the hidden gems of the Pearl Jam catalog - similar to how songs like The Dreaming Tree, The Last Stop, Spoon, #34, JTR, etc. are seen by hardcore DMB fans? (1,000th post on Ants!)

Tough question since they don't really hide any of their gems for the most part. Present tense might fit your description though.

Strangest tribe, red black yellow, alone, let me sleep, and lately you can throw in present tense. Like ricky said though, pearl jam typically play their best song and doesn't hold them back

Those songs are the really deep cuts, save for Present Tense. If you're not familiar with PT, I'd jump into some other stuff first before you get to the Black Red Yellow-type:

    Present Tense
    In Hiding
    Faithfull
    I Got Shit
    Down
    In My Tree
    Thumbing My Way
    Off He Goes

Or just listen to all of No Code and Yield on repeat.

    and World Wide Suicide.

That being said I've been to two Pearl Jam songs ever and saw pretty much every song I like and wanted to see.

28 DMB shows and I'm still missing a decent amount of songs I like and want to see, and nothing even that out of the realm of possibility.

I'm spoiled in that good majority of my PJ shows have been at MSG. To put it in better terms, nearly all of my shows' boots are three discs instead of two.

EDIT: The good majority of my DMB shows have been at SPAC (and all before 2009) which helps me on that front if we're going there.
