Re: List your top 10 and bottom 10 songs

Top:

#41
Crush
LIOG
YNK
Best Of
So Much To Say
You and Me
JTR
Dreaming Tree
Satellite

Top was hard because it is always changing. Could have listed 50 songs there.

Bottom: (based of live)

Cornbread
Can't Stop
Mercy
Old Dirt Hill
Out of My Hands
Where are You Going
Everybody Wake Up
Eh He
Machead
I Did It (Although it has been so long I might not mind a random appearance lol)

Also, I don't really like The Space Between without Butch's piano part. It sounds empty.

Nice one - do you have a link perchance?

EDIT: and Dobyblue - whatever you think, mine were taking both live and studio into consideration
It's on my "DavePod" at home that's full of all my DMB stuff. I'll see if I can find a link on Youtube after work tonight unless anyone here could help.

Top 10 is always changing but I'll give this a shot:

    Top:

    1) The Stone (never changes)
    2) JTR
    3) Typical Situation
    4) Warehouse
    5) Grey Street
    6) #41
    7) BOWA
    8) Raven
    9) Crush
    10) So Right (this song has been a beast in recent years)

    Bottom:

The entire BWGGK album, in no particular order. I'd literally rather hear any other song in their catalog at this point over a song off Big Whiskey.

Interesting. This song has become a favorite of mine since hearing this version, which IMO is near perfection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoyHjOhYIp4

as you might be able to tell by my other choices, I really dislike songs that the band just drags on and on and on and on

I assume you did this meaning as songs you'd want to hear live, rather than the merits of the songs themselves. I completely understand not wanting to hear Shake Me and the like for the 20th+ time since '09, but there's no way those songs are worse than the Be Yourselfs of most people's lists based on the actual music/lyrics, right? Or do you really hate BW that much

I guess so. I've just heard them so many times I've grown to hate them, and I never really loved them when the album first came out in the first place. I don't listen to BW studio or live. The band has made shitty songs (from a technical and/or lyrical stand point) that I don't hate as much as most. Dreamgirl for instance. But yea, I guess I prefer the BW songs over Be Yourself, but if I had to choose which I was going to hear live, BW v. Be Yourself, I'd probably choose Be Yourself.

At the same time, I've heard AFTW songs a shitload of times as well and I don't have the hate for it like I do for BW, so maybe I do truly hate BW that much.

in my personal experience the studio/live dichotomy becomes so entangled with each other that there's no separating them

for example, LITHOG on the album is somewhere between meh and fine but i've heard so many jeff coffin 10 minute masturbatory periods on it live that it's completely ruined the song overall

Sorry, I only have a version on cassette tape from the early 1990's. The version is not great which is why I have always hated that song.

They never played it live though?? And also it was created in 1998, an unfinished studio song from the BTCS sessions I believe?

I remember this bogus story. I have the real Machead on tape. It really is not all that good. Parts of it have been reworked in to other DMB songs and even one Dave and Friends song from the solo album. Maybe one day you will experience it too and see, it really is just average.
