The Gaslight Anthem

I recently heard about them and haven't stopped listening to them since. Honestly, they might be my favorite band of the decade. Their album hasn't gotten off of my iPod since I bought it. They have the sound of punk-meets-classic rock that made me love Pearl Jam so much and reference Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty in their songs and cover Pearl Jam. What more could I love? Bruce recently came out with them at Glastonbury & Hard Rock Calling and their lead singer came out for 'No Surrender.'

So far, my favorite songs are Miles Davis & The Cool, Even Cowgirls Get The Blues and Meet Me By The River's Edge.

They are a really good band. Especially since they hail from New Jersey.

good band. some critic recently hailed them as the saviors of punk or something. not sure i agree but that aside, '59 sound is great.

I downloaded some of their stuff, but didn't really give it too much play. It wasn't that I didn't like them - far from it, but I got caught up listening to so much other crap, they kinda got lost in the shuffle.
Thanks for reminding me to spin some of their tunes.

I'll report back with favorites, etc...in a day or so.

Meet Me By The River's Edge is amazing. It has such a Springsteen feel to it that I still am not over it (and isn't the Bruce reference, either...).

So funny that you made this thread. I just heard of them. I sat next to the lead singer (Brian) in 8th grade French class. Cool guy. I think we were friends but I can't particularly remember.

Just saw them play "The '59 Sound" with Springsteen guesting at Hard Rock Calling (I taped it off Palladia since DMB was going to be on the program). It was FANTASTIC and am now downloading the whole album. Sounds like I'm really going to love this band

They rock pretty hard. I've seen them in concert a few times and they definitely entertain...

59 Sound is a lot better than Sink or Swim, but both are great.

On 59 Sound I'd say my favorites are the title track, Great Expectations, Miles Davis, and Patient Ferris Wheel.

Great band. The '59 Sound is a great album, one of my favorites from 2008 and surprisingly a lot better that Sink or Swim. Pretty good live, too.

The only bad part about them is their state of origin.

They're on the verge of massive popularity I think. The 59 Sound was so well done and polished. The album they are in the studio now for should be nothing short of amazing.

Pumped for the new album, which will allegedly be titled American Slang

Brian Fallon gets an A+ in my book for writing one of the best albums of the decade. Line after line, he gets his "old school 50's nod" thing through without getting repetitive: not exactly an easy task.

Yeah. He does an amazing job of recognizing the past but always staying in the present. I know how much he idolizes Springsteen, and it really shows in his ability to talk about times.
