No, only festival showings in 2012. It didn't receive a limited release until March of 2013 so you can vote for it.

Technically, yes, it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2012. But was not given a limited (then wide) release until 2013. Meaning it would be eligible, I believe.

Does it hurt a movie more to put it last on your list or leave it off entirely?

Depends. Putting it last will hurt more if you submit a longer list as opposed to just a top 10.

A handful of lists have trickled in thus far. Just a reminder, you've got 4 weeks from today to submit your rankings.

I still want to get another 10 or so movies in before I send a list, but unlike last year, I will send one.

Just to clarify, are you saying that having a movie at 50 of 50 will hurt it more than having it 10 of 10?

Or that having a movie at 50 of 50 will hurt it more than not having it on your list of 50?

Re: ***Antsmarching.org’s Top Films of 2013***

It just seems odd that to lower the rating of the worst movie I saw, I'd have to bump it up 50 spots on my list.

Though I guess it makes sense to count "not on the list" as "did not see" and not penalize it for that.

Yes to the first question, sort of to the second. A film's average list placement is one factor that comes into play. In your second scenario, the film would receive bonus credit for just having appeared on your list at all, but not enough to overcome the damage a 50 of 50 placement would do to its average.

Do you only want a max of 3 nominations for the minor categories (actor, actress, etc.)? Also, is Scarlett Johansson eligible for actress?

It'll be interesting to see how Gravity fairs. The people who love it really loved it, while the people who didn't really hated it. Kind of the 2013 version of Tree of Life.

I think more people will put Gravity at the top then will put it WAY low or off their list entirely. Just a hunch. I'm projecting it taking #3
