Band's plans over the next year- anyone have an idea?

It's been a while since I've been on the boards. Is there a consensus about what the band will be doing in the next year?

DMB tour? Any studio work? Possibility of new DMB songs/album?

There isn't really much to report. Boyd has mentioned several times that the band will be back to touring next summer but there hasn't been an official announcement of any sort. As far as a new album, they have been in and out of the studio, but that doesn't necessarily mean an album is coming.

Carter also said, "Well be all over it" next year

We can't trust that what we see is actually real. TheStone is right. The sun may not come up in the morning. The band may not tour next year. People around here seem to doubt Carter ("we will be back in 2018"), Boyd ("we will be back in 2018"), the official line ("we will be back in 2018"), Tim ("we will be back in 2018") and everything else that says they'll be back on the road again next year.

They will be. That being said, the band could get in a fistfight that ends up with Dave's fingers being mashed into a pulp. They'd probably not come back on the road in that case, at least for a while.

I think they'll tour next year but as far as an album who knows.

I'd love if they did the spring 02/summer format with an album coming out in summer but that's just my opinion

I'm confident they will tour but I highly doubt a new album is released in 2018. The band doesn't appear to have spent time together since the 2016 tour wrapped. They may kick around some song ideas on tour next year and put something out in 2019 if they feel it's good enough.

Do we really want a new album at this point? They may have 2 maybe 3 songs worth listening to on the whole thing. Those will be the songs the shelf and then they will fill sets with the shit songs

Don't need a new album... they have enough material that I love and enjoy live. Also, no new song will compare to anything they did in the 90's.

Just give me shows next year

I agree with this. If the new album consisted of the type of material they debuted this summer, I'll pass. Give me Crazy Easy instead.

I agree. There have been 3-4 albums since these songs were brought into the mix. Why would they now all of the sudden add these 10 year old songs to the most current album. Has there been precedent set with the band doing this in the past? I can't think of any.

Crazy Easy was played 5 times in 2013 and nothing since. Making 5 plays since 2004. It won't be on a new album

Shotgun has only 3 plays since 2013. Highly doubtful it gets put on a new album

Idea of You has the most play of the bunch in recent years but it's hardly a staple and is an 11 year old song.

Sugar Will is most likely as it has been played and worked on the most of this bunch but I still doubt it.

If DMB releases an album of "new material" I highly doubt 40% of it would be songs that are 10 plus years old. If they do the "live not live" album than those are likely, but that isn't what is being discussed.

Except that would never be an album. SW/CE/IOY and Shotgun have been around for quiet sometime now. If they haven't released them by now on an album they're not going to.

    you are assuming.

you are expecting future results based on past performance.

there is nothing stopping them from making that album. they KNOW songs like Shotgun, Crazy Easy, and Idea of You are popular with the fanbase. people hold signs for Crazy Easy.

now, if they don't want to record Sugar Will because they have a new, better song that no one has heard of, i'm all for it. the more material, the better.

but jesus christ, Shotgun is one of the best things they've ever done. it'll be a crime if they don't make it official in the studio.

At the most I think they'll maybe do something like Pearl Jam did with the Lost dogs album they released. I think that would be pretty cool.

there is nothing stopping them from making that album. they KNOW songs like Shotgun, Crazy Easy, and Idea of You are popular with the fanbase. people hold signs for Crazy Easy.

now, if they don't want to record Sugar Will because they have a new, better song that no one has heard of, i'm all for it. the more material, the better.

but jesus christ, Shotgun is one of the best things they've ever done. it'll be a crime if they don't make it official in the studio.
Do you realize you called someone out for assuming, and then made a post full of assumptions.
