It's sad that even the Julia Stiles season doesn't look that bad in comparison to what came after it.

There's a hurricane coming. No time for security or protocol. Let me just wheel this dead body to my docked boat at the hospital.

In that moment, the show literally, without any irony, became a straight up comedy. That was genuinely one of the dumbest things I've EVER seen done in a television show, particularly when it had such high, epic moments in the past that it had.

I wonder what Michael C Hall's and whatshername (actress for Deb) thought of that when they first read the script.

I've never seen a worse decline in show quality than what happened to Dexter after Rita was killed off. And to think EVERYONE hated Rita.

Just a recap of two of the worst offenders:

This thread inspired me to watch a few episodes from Season 2 today... this show is definitely not as good as I remember.

My favorite is all the plays on "surprise motherfucker!"

What does Doakes order with his burger? Some fries, motherfucker!
What does Doakes buy at Home Depot? Supplies, motherfucker!
What does Doakes do during a chick flick? He cries, motherfucker!
What were on Doakes' steaks he left out too long? Some flies, motherfucker!
What does Doakes use to tie dye his shirts? Some dyes, motherfucker!
How does Doakes go undercover? Disguise, motherfucker!
Who did Doakes invite to his bachelor party? Some guys, motherfucker!

    You get the point.

I liked that Deb found out who he really was. I had been waiting for a "normal" person to figure that out.

If Deb hadn't died, would Dexter fly to Argentina and live happily ever after? Her death completely fucked him up after everything he had seen and done for the duration of the show?

Reason for visit: Telling her brother that she's romantically in love with him. Figured a creepy abandoned church would be the perfect place to share a moment.

and I didn't even find out til I was well into my whole viewing of the series (in fact I might've even been just finished it) that not only were the actors married in real life, but then they wound up divorcing.

I was about halfway through the series when I found that out too. I didn't really notice any differences on camera, but i wasn't really looking for any.

I'm into Season 3 of my rewatch and I forgot how dreadful this season was. 1 and 2 were awesome, and I'm looking forward to 4 (the best season), but man season 3 is a lull. Miguel is awful, Quinn is awful.

Finished the "Hello, Dexter Morgan" episode of Season 4 last night. S4 is so, so good.

I dunno why I didn't think of this then, but they're hounding Christine Hill, trying to figure out who Trinity is, they find out he's her dad, and are still trying to figure out who he is (looking at people in the education system).

Why didn't they simply subpoena her phone records? Then find out who she's talking to all the time (as she was calling her dad often around the time of her arrest)

I'm through 4 episodes of this show. Some seriously f'd up shit going on but so far it's been great. For some reason I've put off watching it. I knew going into this that the ending is awful but I hope the lead up to it remains this good.

S5 drops off but its not terrible tv... plus once you end S4 its basically impossible to not want to see what happens next.

After S5 definitely not worth it though.
