    and here's the funny part...

according to the CDC, ebola is much less transmissible than HIV, right?

but when was the last time you saw nurses handling HIV patients dressed like this?: http://media4.s-nbcnews.com/i/newscm...85c5d00a81.jpg

probably 1983 right? before we realized how difficult it is to spread HIV person to person.

yet, supposedly ebola is harder to transmit. i'm calling bullshit.

When was the last time we saw nurses handling HIV patients in the middle of a fucking desolate village in West Africa?

Out of curiosity, how nervous were you on December 20th, 2012? I usually don't come in to "current event" type threads on Ants, so this is my first glimpse of your work, and boy I gotta say, it's not good.

not sure if serious or not...

http://www.disasterlog.com/wp-conten...10/Unknown.png (wow. south africa has 15%-35% of adults have HIV. that's insane.)

Africa is basically just a cereal bowl of AIDS and Ebola is now it's milk.

but fine. here's the front page of cnn now showing a guy remediating the nurse's house.

    http://imgur.com/2Izn351

you don't dress like that to clean an HIV positive person's house. yet HIV is "much more transmittable". and "Ebola can only be transmitted from person to person through direct contact."

Did I? by stating what the consensus is speculating what has happened and talking personally to those that are in the medical field and have been trained for possible cases that come into their hospitals?

You make it seem like you have some definate information and have the absolute right answer whenever you speak.

You dont know more than anyone else so stop thinking you do. And stop acting like a prick.

No one has answered my question yet, so I'll repeat it.

Has a single white person (meaning one, just one) died of Ebola yet?

    you asked:

and i answered you. every damn day. did you really not know that Africa is literally riddled with AIDS?

i even provided a nifty graphic for you to put it all in perspective.

and then i gave you the benefit of the doubt of misunderstanding my statement and elaborated further. that's not deflecting a question, that's answering it straight on and making sure you absolutely understand (which you still don't, i guess)

Yet, you didn't provide a picture of a nurse carrying an AIDS patient through a desolate village in Africa. You missed the point. You seem to know what nurses wear as a protective measure against AIDS when they are attending to AIDS patients. I'm asking a.) how you know what nurses wear and b.) for you to provide a link to it considering we haven't seen a nurse carrying and AIDS patient through the middle of Africa.

But it has become pretty clear that you know everything so I don't know why I'm bothering.

    let's try this...

    a google image search:

    aids nurse: https://www.google.com/search?q=aids...ed=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

    ebola nurse:

    notice anything?

to answer your bolded, I'm certified and have taught classes in OSHA bloodborne pathogens for work.

    https://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/hos....html#standard

both ebola and hiv are bloodborne pathogens. so the standard is the same.

the fact that nurses, who are much more educated than you, are wearing only latex or nitrile gloves to handle HIV patients BUT tyvek moon suits to handle ebola patients is REALLY ODD.

(which is the whole point of me bringing it up).

is there anything else i can clear up for you? because, i assure you, i do not know everything but i know a lot.

Justin sure has had a lot of jobs.

these healthcare workers in the hospitals are not wearing full hazmat suits.....theyre wearing scrubs, gowns, double gloves, face shield/mask, etc. Its taking them off that has been the issue.
The nurse in Spain that was infected admits that she may have touched her face with one of her gloved hands after interacting with the patient. These protocols allow too much human error. The protocols need to be tweaked....which the CDS has alluded to.

You keep saying that its very strange that these people are wearing hazmat suits....but they are wearing them dealing with patients that have ebola in the very sick stages.....stages that deal with VOMIT, BLOOD, DIARREHEA, etc. When a patient is in the hospital in the late stages of full blown AIDS, the same precautions are taken, with isolation.

it may be less transmissible, but it looks like it's more concentrated in blood than other viruses.

At the peak of illness, an Ebola patient can have 10 billion viral particles in one-fifth of a teaspoon of blood. That compares with 50,000 to 100,000 particles in an untreated H.I.V. patient, and five million to 20 million in someone with untreated hepatitis C.

When a patient is in the hospital in the late stages of full blown AIDS, the same precautions are taken, with isolation.
i agree with your post here, but to the bolded: that hasn't been confirmed for the nurse in dallas, it's only been speculated. frieden* said yesterday that he's not sure what caused her to get infected, and he apologized for saying over the weekend that it was a breach of protocol.

    * take his comments for what they are, because he's coming off as a total fool....

I think if AIDS symptoms commonly included vomiting, diarhea and bleeding from the orifices, you'd see the AIDS nurses Hazmat-ed up. I also think the Hazmat suits to clean up their belongings is driven by fear and an abundance of caution. There would be a lot more than 1 follow up case in Dallas by this time if it was airborne.

she probably got it from just standing in the room with him then. for sure.

or its airborne, and we are all carriers, and when the government hit the switch, it will infect us all.
