Anyone have any good live show recommendations to buy/download?

David Shaw is coming to Atlanta December 22 for a solo show. You should come down it will be a great show.

If you can get your hands on their first set from Bonnaroo 2013 in the tent on the main lawn, I call it that cause I don't know what its called.....it was a scorcher. 300 of us and they pulled the plug, literally, on the band because Shaw would not shut up and Jack Johnson was about to play his first note. The Orpheum show during JazzFest this year was also really good. If you like colabs, find Galactic and Friends from Wanee a couple of years back...possibly also 2013. They bring him up and do a cover of When the Levee Breaks (which they have done a number of times) but I am partial to his vocals for this song.

How are these guys live? Going to a festival and want to check them out.

Also, where should I start when it comes to their albums? I am not too familiar with them.

Great band with a lot of energy that I enjoy. Very talented musically, funky, New Orleans background, they jam well. Going to see them next Thursday, 3/23 for the 5th time; 3x in Festival setting and 2 x headlining. The festival sets were mostly off the latest album Men Amongst Mountains. They have 2 others City of Sound and Vital Signs and an EP that I think that came out in 2008. Songs from City and Vital Signs get mixed in pretty good when they play a full set. Don't think you will be disappointed by seeing or listening to them.

The live cuts from the City of Sound album is what sold me. Great band, can't wait to catch them live.

Definitely start with the live cuts from City of Sound. The whole catalog is great. They have become my second favorite band behind DMB. If you can catch them or a David Shaw solo show do it. They are worth traveling for. Plus they are super nice guys who are very interactive with fans.

All their albums are great. They only have like 3 studio albums so not much to dig through! City of Sound is certainly the best.

Does anyone know how much they vary their sets, especially on a two-night stand? I'm going to see them Saturday at the Capitol in Port Chester, NY and I am highly considering the Sunday night show as well.

As mentioned, the sets are pretty similar, but different spot locations and a few songs different. And unlike that picture, it's the same venue, so I'm sure it'll be a bit more varied. If you've got nothing going on and don't mind spending the money, I'd do both.

I just saw them 2/3 nights in the Pacific NW. Did the Eugene show Thursday, skipped Portland Friday, and caught the Seattle show Saturday. I'm so glad I did too. The Eugene show was good, but the Seattle show was prob the best show I've seen of their's (only my 5th show though).

From the Seattle show. They brought up the guitarist and singer from Con Brio (opener who was also pretty awesome btw) for the encore. Such a great performance:

EDIT: Seizure alert on that video. Just watched that person's video for the first time, and the camera gets pretty flashy at times.

Thank you both. They've easily become one of my favorites bands and I normally wouldn't think twice about it but Sunday nights can be tough with work the next day. As much as I enjoy the songs, some setlist variety would definitely make the show, and the inevitable reduction in sleep, more enticing.

On another note, I actually saw Con Brio a couple of weeks ago playing with Galactic and Robert Randolph and would recommend seeing all three of those bands if you have the chance.

Setlists looked good. The other day, I was literally going to say "I'd do both nights just in hopes of hearing Soul's Too Loud." Hope you did both! More repeats than I thought there'd be, but looks like there were some guests though too.

Either way, hope you had a good time!

Only ended up doing the Saturday show but I'm kicking myself now for not going to both. Even with the repeats, Soul's Too Loud, Upright, and Up in the Air would have made it worth it for me. I know they didn't play it but I'd also love to see Masquerade at some point, that song is really growing on me.

In terms of the show I did see, it was great and has me itching to go to more. They sound fantastic and their energy is incredible. I definitely won't skip a two-nighter next time they're around.

On another note, does anyone know what "The Door" is? It was played right after Need You at Saturday's (3/25) show and is labeled as such on the setlist. I've never heard it before and couldn't find it anywhere but really enjoyed it at the show and on the tape afterward.

It's a new song. Same with You and I and Got Love. Unfortunately they don't have the taper community like dmb so we don't get to hear as much live material.

Ok thanks. They do have this past Saturday's show out there:

    https://youtu.be/YTCzZAxs4iY

Features two out of the three new songs you mentioned in pretty good quality. The Door starts at about 54:13 and You and I at about 1:09:43 (kind of reminds me of Wild Night by John Mellencamp).

Thanks for the link. You're right about You and I, it definitely has the Wild Night vibe.

In my experience never miss the second night at this point. At just under 40 Revs shows night 2 is pretty consistently where I hear what I want at this point.

Skipped night 1 and did night 2 at The Cap. Definitely one of the better shows.

The Door is my favorite of the new ones so far! It definitely needs to develop a bit. You and I is coming along nicely already. Its a fun one.

That's the first time I've actually heard The Door. It sounds fantastic. That's my favorite type of Revs tune. I can't wait to see it at a show and hopefully here a good clean recording of it soon.
