He said "The Giants are a 10-6 team that easily could've been 8-8." But he did go on to say that they got hot at the right time and definitely deserved to be in the Super Bowl. He also attributed the win against Dallas mostly to Dallas having terrible play calling in the second half, and he attributed the win against Green Bay mainly to sloppy play by Favre. I was just surprised to hear a host who is pro-Giants be that critical of the team. As soon as he was done with his rant he started taking phone calls and all the Giants fans that called were saying he is crazy, so I guess most of the fans don't share his opinion
who was hosting the show? joe beningo and evan roberts do the 10-1 show and are both huge jets fans, they're also huge pricks with regards to the giants...mike and the mad dog are pro-giants and have been praising them all post-season

It was around 8:45 this morning. I don't know their names. Apparently the host who was saying all that stuff had been out the day before getting some medical procedure done, b/c after he finished his rant the other host said "Ignore him. He still hasn't recovered and he's on Perkiset right now."

EDIT: I have been really into Sports Talk Radio for the past few years. I like hearing what people have to say. On monday I listened to WFAN for a while to hear the Giants fans gloat about going to the SB, then I found Green Bay's sports talk station (based out of Milwaukee). They have streaming internet radio so I listened to that for a while just to hear Packers fans perspective on the game. It was interesting to hear both sides.

Honestly I think it is a pretty close call on who is the better quarterback, if you take emotions/fandom out of the picture (which few around here do!).

I once asked Marino about the ring's importance. It was in 1995, just after he had broken most of Fran Tarkenton's major career passing records. Huge accomplishments that attracted national attention. But each one came amid a loss. He was confused by that twisted turn of events; he could not very well celebrate an individual milestone when his team lost.
"That's the frustrating part," he said. "The individual records are nice, but this is a team game." And the lack of a ring? "It may never happen. If it doesn't, I'll be disappointed. I can't say it's not important, because it is. But if I don't win one, my career isn't a failure."
    Noo....try again.

What I said was, I bet they wouldnt say, more championships = a better qb.

Thats not the same as, "the stats are nice, but Id rather have a ring." I never doubted they would say that.....

I just checked the WFAN website. It was Boomer & Carton. I'm pretty sure Carton was the one that went on that rant and Boomer was disagreeing with him.

I just saw your reply. Yeah it was Carton ... I assumed he was pro-Giants since he was on WFAN.

How were the wrong though? The Giants were 0-4 against playoff teams during the regular season, played a bunch of very bad teams and got absolutely schlacked by a Minnesota team playing without the Offensive ROY. Don't get me wrong, the Giants have been playing very good football during the playoffs, but there were pretty average during the regular season.

Too bad this couldn't have happened last year in Miami with the rain.

My prediction: Pats 34, Giants 24.

I have to agree with you.

The Giants went only 1 – 5 against quality opponents – that is, against teams with winning records in the regular season. They also had a -8.5 points differential in those games.

For comparison sake the Patriots went 7 – 0 against quality opponents with a points differential of +19.3.

That being said, the Giants have played MUCH better football during the playoffs, but they were not a very good regular season team.

What they did in the regular season means nothing right now. Anyone writing the Giants off as a fluke is a moron. It will be a good game.

Apparently, Don Shula is "cooler" than we anticipated.

I wonder if these * people are for putting it next to the 98 Broncos, too? Or the 72 Dolphins? Or the 06 Chargers?

Brady is not going to let the crappier younger brother of Fat Forehead beat him in anything. Period.

Don Shula is the man, and it's impossible to determine how cool he actually is. kthxbi

    Re: Superbowl XLII

The more I think about this game the more I start thinking about how this game will not be close. By close I mean within 14 pts. Look at the first game, a lucky pass to Burress, a kickoff return when the Pats kicked from their own 15 and a garbage time td pass to Burress with a minute left. And once Brady and Moss broke the records and the Pats returned to their game plan they moved the ball easily against the Giants. The only upside I see for the Giants is possibly a better game for Jacobs although I don't see him doing much more than what he did. The Giants have banged up corners so they'll need safety help on Moss on every play which opens the middle of the field for Welker and Watson not to mention Maroney. Defensively the Pats will most likely play the receivers physical to throw off Manning's timing off. Bottom line, Manning's shark meat. Pats will dominate the clock again. No lucky scores this time NYG...sorry.
