Re: True Detective-New HBO Show

Love this show so far, and agree Cohle being the killer is just way too obvious. I do find the approach of the interviews to be pretty interesting though -- Cohle's is all about the case, while Hart's is all about Cole. Probably a red herring but worth nothing at this point.

Yeah way too obvious. They could go with Woody as the killer, although no idea at this point how they get there.

Got around to this weeks episode last night. I see big big things coming for this show. I think I may have enjoyed #2 better than the pilot. Awesome cans not withstanding. Those were something else.

That chick looked absolutely incredible naked. Woody definitely had a snake in his boot.

Woody definitely has issues, beneath the surface. I liked how he was the normal, sane guy in ep 1, but slowly we're seeing his internal struggles. Whereas Rustin appears strange on the outside, yet deep down possesses some firm beliefs.

yeah, not gonna lie, they could start speaking japanese for the rest of the eps and i would still tune in for the chance to see her again. jesus h christ.

so with all this talk of who the killer is, has anyone thought of the possibility that the identity might not be the end game and that we might not ever find out? it would be kinda lame, but they seem to be focusing so much more on the characters and their relationship that i think the whodunit aspect is secondary. then again, they've stated that they went on to work together for 7 years after this case, so i don't think they can get too deep into these guys relationship with one another.

also, did i read right that this season is only 8 eps and then next season is new story and new characters? so that leaves only 6 hours to wrap this? doesn't seem like a lot of time.

Based on the preview for next episode, I think things are going to take off quickly. There was, what appeared to be, some crazy looking dude with a mask on walking in a field.

I like the show, but honestly it has been pretty slow. If there's only 6 episodes left then maybe it will really pickup. I'd just like the pacing of the story to pickup a little bit.

Damn great show so far, love the interaction between the two detectives. That back and forth between them early on was great and this quote was just awesome, can't wait to see the rest of this season.

"I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in human evolution. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, a secretion of sensory experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everybody's nobody."

Just an FYI for everyone - according to what I am reading on IMDb, HBO will not be airing a new episode next week because of the Super Bowl.

the scene when they are talking/debating at the back of that makeshift church/tent is incredible dialogue, some of the best i've heard in a TV show

eli thompson as a preacher was great

If you haven't done it yet, I would highly recommend watching all the episodes consecutively. I rewatched the first two episodes last night before going into the third and it was an awesome experience, like watching the first three hours of a long movie. This show is great.

Does HBO have the same exposure as another network though? The show replays like 8 times during the week and there are no commercials anyways. I mean, I get it but I still think they could put the episode out. Hopefully I'll live.
