That actually helps your case, by revealing how little they release from the studio, but...I don't think any cd should be 17 songs. The best cd with that many tunes on it that I can think of is the first disc of the white album, and (I know I may get grilled for this one) I don't think it had any flow. Out of 17, all 17 were terrific/obscure but awesome songs, but there was too much to the whole project.
In my opinion, the ceiling should be 13 tracks, and if they are going to do more than 12, they should at least feel guilty about it.

I disagree about the "flow". I say screw the flow and give me diversity. Plus, in this day and age, we can make our own flow by creating our own playlists. More importantly, DMB adding more songs to their catalog will actually make it easier to create a setlist with a better flow than ever before.

On the other hand, I definitely wouldn't complain about that!
However, my point was, DMB should have more songs in their catalog
by now to play at shows. Even if the songs on the album are more compact, the fact that those songs would
exist means those songs have a chance of being jammed-out at a show. (Examples, Two Step, #41, LIOG. Short and compact on the album but jammed out at shows. GLORIOUS!)
