2015 Acoustic Set Discussion

Riverbend acoustic set up until You & Me might have been my favorite run of any DMB concert I've been to. Granted, I like FTWII a lot more than most people here, but holy shit almighty that was a fun acoustic set.

its just really bland. theres nothing interesting or exciting about it like other covers. it just takes up space.

To me it's just as exciting as Long Black Veil (which I love). Simple song with a nice melody. I also compare it to that song because, like Long Black Veil, he completely made the song his own. It sounds nothing like John Denver's. Reminds me of what I used to love about DMB's covers in the old days.

Acoustic is definitely the best part about this tour. Funny how it has diversity while the electric set is pretty predictable now.

i wouldnt put TMTT on the same level as LBV. theres just something about the song that doesn't connect for me. the crowd doesnt seem to get into it, whether thats because they just dont know what it is or its not something you can really sing along to.

i was at cville 2010 and the entire crowd was singing long black veil, a cover that had been played once at a DMB show in the 7 years prior to that performance. TMTT will never be on that level. i can appreciate dave's vision for changing the song and making it his own, but i just don't think it really works that well in that type of setting. i put it more on the level of white shade of pale.

I agree with you. Comparing LBV (which was released on Listener Supported and Gorge 02) to TMTT (which released on a tribute album) is just odd. Of course more people are going to know LBV because it's on more live albums and it's been played more than the past 3 years.

In my opinion, you really can't go wrong with So Damn Lucky. I thought I was not a fan of that song anymore, but saw it on Saturday and loved every second of it. It may have been on his solo album, but that is some old-school sounding DMB in my eyes. Snow Outside is always great as well. That's definitely one of their best since Busted Stuff.

I thought SDL sounded great Saturday, always been a fan of that song. Don't really like the thank you outro since 08-10. Still a good song though.

Does anybody like TMTT? That song is so pointless to me, nobody knows it well, I don't see anybody really clamoring for it or enjoying it much. It's just sort of there.

TMTT holds the all time record for biggest mass exodus to the bathroom during a DMB show, set last year in Tampa (and probably tied with every other performance of the song). Nobody cares about that song or really wants to hear it.
