We always do the Warehouse preferred lawn tickets for Woodlands, and they are great. Front and center, and there is a walkway in front of you that security keeps clear

People usually dont try to cram in even once the ropes come down

Woodlands lawn used to be a lot better. They added more reserved seats during the post-hurricane remodel, so it's farther from the stage than it used to be. Still one of the better lawns though.

I'm shooting for pit for Woodlands again though.

If Kansas (Wichita/KC) doesn't get any love, we'll probably head down to Dallas again. Had a great time in 2010 - Last Stop opener was worth it alone. We stayed at a La Quinta on the way out of Dallas to the north.

I'm debating doing this, but I might end up just going rsvd.

as much as i love my city (dallas), the woodlands traditionally has FAR better shows. if anything, its the environment.

i'll be doing PIT at both just bc i loved PIT in hartford, and nothing beats front row.

lawn in dallas is just that, lawn in dallas. a shitload of drunk high school kids. same turnout regardless of whos playing.

Man I really hope its DMB. I am really believing these 5/18-5/19 dates (even telling everyone to make plans ;-)), but I'd REALLY like the confirmation to hurry up. Plus we may get word of some openers too

Good call. I'm hoping for the Hold Steady, but I think my odds are pretty low :-) Heard & the Heart is a strong possibility

I'm a little depressed that it's the same weekend as Hangout, since I was considering going to it (and I really dig their lineup this year)

With that, and the Woodlands set to announce something "big", tomorrow doesn't seem that far fetched.

It's going to be madness in The Woodlands with that Ironman shit. City is booked up already, and they're gonna add another 15k to it with nowhere really to stay?

Nah. Might have to call ahead a little sooner than normal and tell Baker St we'll be coming in, but other than that, it shouldn't be too bad for us, especially since I already booked us rooms.

I live in The Woodlands and I can say that last years Ironman event didn't really have much impact on bakers. Also, I know several people that work there so getting an area shouldn't be much of a problem. The only thing is that they set up all the ironman village crap on the corner opposite of the main gate. Parking anywhere in the waterway area will be dicey, but the event itself isnt until Saturday morning and thats when the clusterfuck really begins so we all dodged a bullet there.

How far away from the venue is the Days Inn that you booked? And have you ever stayed there? I've only had one Days Inn experience and it was...a bit scary, so I'm apprehensive about trying again. Still toying with the idea of just making the drive, but with canceling a reservation being so easy I might just book a room somewhere anyway.

If its the one in Shenendoah its about 2 miles from the venue...be prepared to be underwhelmed. It is not a nice place, but options are few

I think Bakers knows to expect us by now too, so that helps. Not worried about parking, as we'll cab it from the hotel. And if we don't, we have secret parking.

Like 5 minutes. It's a little farther away from the La Quinta we usually stay at.

Never stayed at that Days Inn. Not to worried about it though, as it's not like there's a hood in The Woodlands. Not really expecting anything other than four walls and two beds.
I'm just not sure what other options people are going to have. All the nice hotels by the venue are totally booked. For a nice hotel, you'll probably have to commute to Houston.

There is the resort, but they charge you at the time of booking, and the cheapest room is $228 after taxes and fees so it's not a small upfront charge.

Edit: And I know there's not a hood in The Woodlands, they have a top notch high school marching band program and in Texas that's an indication of wealth, haha. That Days Inn is totally booked now anyway.
