B&R is definitely better than PV, I didn't like him veering down the almost country road and messing around with the dating cancer that is Taylor Swift, nevermind how creepy that even was.
I think he could spend the rest of his career trying to make something half as good as Continuum, Born & Raised is ok at best to me, all of his post Continuum feels kind of hollow in comparison.
I went to see him on the tour for B&R right after his voice had come back, I think it was the first or second show he played after his year of rest or whatever it was after the nodules. JM was (not surprisingly and deservedly so) quite tentative, seemed a little gun-shy. Phillip Phillips from American Idol was supposed to open for him and for some reason didn't, so I guess in a scramble they found this new young band to play, St. Paul & the Broken Bones.
I currently am in love with StP&BB but I think they must have been so rushed they didn't even get a sound check, they didn't even have an album out yet, just like a gofundme EP... their performance got rave reviews, but damn it was awful. Sound was terrible, it was just so loud you couldn't really even hear any of it.
