^ That might be my favorite scene of the series

But the Bunk/Omar "makes me sick, mf'er, how far we done fell" conversation is way up there, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQiWMRvBmSo

Got my parents to finally watch The Wire and they just finished a few days ago. I was watching intermittently with them but I sat and watched the last 4-5 episodes w/ them and I gotta say… those last few episodes are so good. Especially the finale. The finale is so fucking good.

Maybe I’m saying something obvious. However, I see a lot of people heavily criticize the last season for the ridiculousness of McNulty’s plot but it’s never bothered me.

    Parents loved the show btw!

The last season is only "bad" when you compare it to the other four seasons. On it's own, it's an entertaining season of television - it's just a testament to how next level the first four seasons are IMO.

I think McNulty and Freamon in the last season moved to quickly from "fuck this department" to "we're gonna fix crime scenes" because they had fewer episodes, so they had to cut to the chase in a way that made the writers have to show their hand a bit more than usual

while I like the Gus character a lot, I do also think that the shift to focusing on the newsroom suffered from a lack of really good characters, as well.

Finished my first re-watch with my gf last night(her first watch). Forgot how sad that scene was when Prezbo gives Duquan the cash for drugs. I like Michael becoming the new Omar.

Last week I randomly got into reading a few character wikis and watching some clips and best-of videos on YouTube. Such a fun nostalgic trip. Wish I had the time/mental capacity to invest in another rewatch.

Snoop was such a great villain though, an absolute sociopath. Also had one of the best last words of the series. "How's my hair look, Mike?"

    He's a solid choice.

Bunny Colvin would be my personal pick.

started a rewatch. only through 2 episodes but it’s just insane how good the show is right away. don’t think I’ve seen a tv show since that so effortlessly drops you into a sprawling world that you just know is real.

There are ebbs and flows with The Wire, The last season(s) stretch things, Overall (GTFO S2 haters) it's unflappable. I mean, given the 2001 cinematography, Sheeeeiiiiittt.

It's my fav show of all time. It deserves a rewatch from me; even with the falloff in the final season, the first 4 are so good - just flawless entertainment.

Just finished season 3 episode 11, which is the highest rated one on IMDB and may be the best of the series. upon rewatching the show, it’s become abundantly clear how much of a fuck up stringer was. he took a couple of economic and business classes and thought he was some hot shot who could make it in the real world on the straight and narrow. he then proceeds to fuck up the following things:

    1. Tortures Brandon (Omar’s BF) for no reason, unnecessarily inflaming the conflict with Omar

    2. Tells Omar it was Brother Mouzone who killed Brandon when it wasn’t

    3. Kills DeAngelo behind Avon’s back

    4. Loses over $200k to Clay Davis

    5. Helps to ignite the war with Marlo

Just massive fuck ups over and over again. He deserved what he got. Avon is Avon but at least he always kept it real. Stringer was a phony.

I had forgotten how he died, and when the scene came it was just electric. The staging, writing, cinematography of this show is just truly on another level. Masterpiece.

this is actually the penultimate episode of s3 and I think it’s the best of the series. In addition to that scene, you also have Stringer and Avon’s balcony scene where it’s clear they both know it’s over for them, and then of course the final scene with Omar, Brother M, and Stringer.
