And now 5-1. In the division, no less. Buxton is on pace to shatter the record for strikeouts in a season. 14 times in 6 games even makes someone like Adam Dunn blush.

Their pitching has really been keeping them competitive. Too bad the offense hasn't been helping out by stalling the past four games (3 total runs). Buxton is a complete mess at the plate. Still, better record at this point than I would have predicted.

Buxton and Mauer are worthless right now.

Got what you were looking for. Ervin is pitching like a certified ace to start the year. Mauer is still butt.

Ervin was lights out last night.

Sano is a man amongst boys. Two outstanding plays and a BLAST to left field that was gone the moment it left the bat. You could see me in the background of the slow-mo shot

Mauer just needs to get on base a little more. He strikes out as little as anybody on the team but he has barley any walks and his average is poo. He's putting the ball in play but it seems like its right at someone.

If there's ever a reason for seeing a game in person, it's to hear the live sound of a ball cracking off Sano's bat (TV broadcast doesn't do it justice). Read some shit he's hitting the ball harder, on average, than anyone in the entire league so far this season.

Last night's home run derby at TF was fun. Sano's blast looked to be headed towards Hennepin Ave if the stadium hadn't gotten in the way.

Sano and Vargas have been mashing and it's been great to see Buxton start to turn things around after a slow start. Hopefully Berrios has things figured out this time around. They could really use another solid arm in the rotation.

i wonder how much you could have won if before the season you put $100 on the twins being in first place on may 12. i mean, nobody saw this coming, right? plenty of time for the bottom to fall out, but at least they're playing well enough that it's unlikely they flirt with 100 losses again.

Some impressive things going on now with the Twins. They still have yet to be shutout this season and they are on a streak of 13 games in a row with a home run (most since 1988 when they had a run of 14 games).

tk is revered here and should be, but there are certainly players he rankled and ortiz being one of them is no surprise. i've no real problem with anything i've read so far that he's said because it's his perspective and is obviously colored by whatever wrongs it is he perceived kelly was doing to him. the major point i've taken away is that despite this ortiz still did what was asked of him even though he despised it, so give credit to tk for still having ortiz respecting the manager/organization and making sure ortiz's ego and feelings didn't get in the way of what tk wanted on the field.

Ortiz has to be the biggest blunder in Twins history. A complete misread from the coaching staff up through the front office. I'm glad Big Papi railed against them.

I heard yesterday's win get called a "season-defining" win on KFAN this morning. Could be in this young season. The bullpen had to really step up and they did. An important sweep on the road.

    25-18 (1st place; 2.0 games ahead)

I think season defining is a bit of a stretch. But an important sweep against a good team is encouraging.

Lets see what the next dozen games shows us. 6 against TB and against Houston. Then a long west coast trip.
