Looking at this 2017 schedule, I can see them going 0-9 into the bye week. Maybe 1-2 wins at most.

I'll be happy if it's Watson. I'm not sure if he'll pan out, but at least a 3rd overall QB is interesting. Give me bold and risky Ryan Pace.

Haven't been this excited/anxious for a draft maybe in my life. Nobody seems to have a clue what's gonna happen. I've talked myself into accepting Solomon Thomas if they go with him, but would prefer Adams. Would be intrigued by Watson, but nervous. Should be interesting.

Could easily be bullshit but Schefter saying today Trubisky could still go #1 overall. I don't remember this much uncertainty surrounding the top of a first round.

I hate the move because I don't see how they don't end up with Mitch at #3.

I was in favor of Watson, if they went with any QB, because Mitch seems like a complete project. 13 starts? MEH.

Pace better be right. Everything the gave up he needs to be elite.

Why would you trade all those picks? E
    Why??

If Mitch isn't there and you are hard on for a QB, go with Watson. All those picks...so unbelievably unnecessary. This feels like the worst move in Bears draft history unless he's Rodgers/ Manning. That's what is needed.

8 year NFL top 10 starter is not good enough. This has unnecessary trade written all over it. What in the fuck.

    I don't understand this fanbase.

For years they shit on the organization because they don't take a QB in the draft.

Now when they have no QB, and take one in the first round that was the consensus best QB in the draft - people freak out.

I'm GUESSING, but I would think they made the move from #3 to #2 because if they didn't, someone else was going to leap frog them to take Mitch, and he was obviously their guy.

I'm a notorious Bears pessimist, but I actually like that we tried for a QB. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. Just sit back and watch the games. It's not like this team is competing for the Super Bowl this year or next anyway. Calm the fuck down

I agree. It could be a terrible move - but I like that they chose their guy and went for it. If he is a franchise QB, awesome! If he sucks, obviously Pace is gone.

At least it's exciting that they went for it. I'm sure there is a reason why they love him and I bet they have more info than the twitter universe.

If the Bears had moved up from #13 to #2, no one would be having this reaction. Because not only would Tribisky have been gone, but other QBs would have been gone as well.

Either Tribisky would have been there anyway at #3 and it wouldn't have cost them anything (i.e. 49ers were bluffing) or they could have drafted a different top QB. Or they could have drafted a top flight defensive guy at #3 and then still gotten a QB by trading back up into the first round.

Now, not only better Tribisky be a perennial Pro Bowler, but any of the QBs behind him better not turn out better than him. Or the Bears will look like double fools, for trading picks for no reason, and all for the wrong Guy.

    Re: Da Bears

I've seen reports from some NFL insiders that there were no teams trying to trade for that #2 spot other than the bears. So just like the Glennon signing, the bears were bidding against themselves.

What's done is done, I'm going to have to talk myself into Trubisky regardless here, but given the fact that Pace has shown a good track record of finding mid-round talent, and many experts were saying this is one of the deepest drafts in years, I'm really not thrilled about giving up those 3rd/4th round picks this year. We have a team full of holes and we've lost out on 2 guys who couldve been potential starters, for a guy who most likely wont start this year and is considered a project qb and hasn't played in a pro-style offense.

I really was hoping the bears would tank this year and we would've been able to get Sam Darnold out of USC next year. Kid is gonna be a stud in the NFL. Sure, the bears most likely will suck this year and get somewhere in the top 10 draft pick range, but they're not drafting a qb again. Calling it now, Rodgers will get hurt early, green bay will get a top draft pick, they'll draft him and be set up with another elite QB once Rodgers hangs it up lol

Great pick getting Jackson from Bama in the 4th. Very good safety and elite kick returner.

It's pretty obvious he didn't view this draft about making the 2017 Bears better.

I'm pro firing Fox, so I approve of the plan, but in a deep DB class get some fucking DB's. They should have traded down more, especially in the 2nd, if they wanted a TE who at best likely goes in the 3rd.

He's one of the better beat writers, IMO. Him, Jahns and our own ZZ are the best. Highly suggest reading this for all you that are freaking out.
To feel better, the reasoning is that the Bears coveted a player that the Cleveland Browns also coveted? This reasoning would make sense if the team we were comparing to was the Patriots. Or even a team that can evaluate talent.

I think most meatballs would have been fine with the pick. It's the stupidity of giving up too much in the draft after spending too much on your highest paid FA acquisition, when only one of them can be on the field at the same time. When the team is lacking in multiple areas.

And it's not like Trubisky is a can't miss guy. It would make sense if he was truly coveted, but finding yourself aligned with Cleveland's player evaluation is not something you should take comfort in.
