Trying to think of bands I've seen in pavilions or large venues recently. Hasn't been too many - Mumford and Sons, Of Monsters and Men, OAR, 311, Linkin Park

Most club shows as well.

Most venues post the set times and hit that pretty close to on point.

Never seen DMB hit it at all.

good for you then i guess, maybe it's because your venue has a curfew? i dunno, but i've been to starlake well over 30 times and stage ae (which is a smaller amphitheater), for a variety of acts, and the main act is rarely on stage at the advertised time

Just saw this on FB. That's fantastic news. Really glad they're not doing two-sets. Also really glad just starting the show at 8 (realistically 8:15-8:30) which gives me plenty of extra time to get over there.

Why do I have this feeling like they have shortened the sets to 17-18 songs and will STILL have the Lovely Ladies on 4-5. Just to fuck with us.

I still dont see how you think they were all that different other than Tim on acoustic. There were a few songs where it stood out, Recently, Two Step etc. For everything else the difference was minimal.

Im happy to trade those for the excitement of the first song as the sun is setting.

I am still thinking there will be acoustic elements to the set, like the band leaving the stage midway through and letting Dave and Tim crush a tune or 2 out, then have the band gradually come back in for the remainder of the set.

You were that much of a fan of the 2 sets as it was or more for what it could have been? It just never seemed to materialize and the large majority of the performances in the acoustic set were very similar just with a little less energy and a little less of an electric guitar.

Seriously? I mean, I liked the acoustics too, but you would cut out c'ville because of it? Honestly, my prediction for c'ville was 1 set anyway-regardless of tour format. It's an indoor venue, most of the indoor gigs were 1 set (Europe, SF).
I can't imagine the crowd noise during the acoustic indoors.

I think we got songs that we probably wouldn't have gotten without the acoustic sets. Back You Up, Typical, PFWYG, Let You Down so for all the hate, we got some positives out of it. But it did get stale in the acoustic side of things. How many Needle, Beach Ball, Whiskey, Oh's did we get? If they were to start at 8, I'd say great, no openers but other than having to pay the opening acts, there is really no reason to not have them because we know DMB won't take the stage until probably closer 8:30 instead of 8 which is what they did 2013 and before.

Other than PFWYG and LYD (which I wouldnt count because Dave couldve played it solo E1) all of the rest of the songs youre referring to have been played fairly regularly pre 2014.

Having the ladies or not, song selection, and other aspects will have zero to do with the set structure of the show.

There have been 1 or 2 indoor shows during the 2 sets era. The sound is probably better.

A lot of times they came out after eight BECAUSE openers pushed them back. The crew vacuums the stage. Checks all the instruments. And just finish setting up.

Maybe the no opener play is so they can actually be on at 8

No openers the last two years. Not once did they hit the stage at the start time. And those shows started with just Dave or Dave and Tim, so fewer people to wrangle. Still didn't happen.

Can't argue with that. They also started earlier than in the past though. Do I think they'll be on at 8? Not at all. But my point isn't invalid and its optimistic. There's a shot

Would be great if they realize the one set/traditional stage set up doesn't prevent them from various band member arrangements and whether Tim or Fonz picks up an acoustic.
