Re: 2017 Dave & Tim Summer Tour

Playing 4 massive festivals all arranged by you during a "year off" is hardly a year off.

A year off is just that. A year off with nothing happening

I agree. I live near SPAC and have been making a big bbq bus party out of it every year. I was kind of relieved that they were taking a year off so i didn't have to plan it. Then I heard D&T were coming and it got me a little bit excited, but i think i am going to skip it. Then a friend said that he has broker friend who can get us sick tickets.... It just keeps pulling me back in, but I feel like I need to skip it this year. Or do I?

    Hard to skip great tix.
Just scale back the BBQ to keep it more manageable.

Songs I want to see this tour (though, unlikely):

    Dodo
    Say Goodbye
    I'll Back You Up
Smooth Rider (hate this song, but D&T kill it)
    Wild Horses
    Spoon
    Cry Freedom
    Last Stop
    Best of What's Around
    Raven
    Dreaming Tree

I truly hopes he takes liberties with this tour.

Pretty sad that any of those (except Wild Horses) are unlikely.

If it was over 2-3 shows yes I would agree.

But from 2 shows in Texas, 3 in Mexico, almost 20 in Europe and 20 in the US again.... I guarantee a couple of surprises will pop up eventually

Sweet, so if I just go to every show this year I might get a couple of those.

If they are going to play 3 nights in Mexico with no repeats, and they are going to play approximately 25 songs each night, you'd have to imagine that several of those songs will get played.

Edit: BOWA, Raven, Say Bye and DT being the most likely in my mind.

D&T have played a packed amp every year for Farm Aid, correct? Though I too am a bit leery of what these US shows will be like, I'm having trouble thinking the crowds and acoustics it will be nearly as bad as so many on here are forecasting. Just don't sit in the lawn.

I'm not sure how comparable something like Farm Aid or Bridge School is.. but I guess we'll see.

Have a reliable source at MassMoca that Dave and Tim will be at Solid sound this year.

    Take care, Dan

Question to all who have been to the Mann, I have have never been here, I am going to be almost 9 month pregnant and debating if its a good idea to go. If I got decent seats how is the parking situation? Is it pretty close to the venue? From what I read its great place to go!

My wife was 7 months pregnant and pretty big when we went to see D&T in New Orleans in 2014. She did okay, the crowd was loud but wasn't as active as a full band show.

However, at 9 months pregnant, you'll have to look at how close you are to your due date. And you never know if you'll go into labor or not, so that's another risk. I'm sure there is a hospital nearby, but it may not be your OBGYN (unless you're local, that I don't know). So I think the risk is entirely up to you as to whether or not you think it's a good idea. I would talk to your doctor.

I've seen two smaller acts at the Mann, so I'm not sure how D&T will be, but parking is closer to the venue than other places (still have to walk). With that being said, having just moved to Philly in the last two years, I can't comment on how much is available in the lots/field I'm thinking of. Depending on which way you come in, you're either going to have to walk downhill or uphill to your seats, so take that into consideration too.

The Mann is a sweet venue though with some great views of the Philly skyline from the lawn. Good luck!

Friend of mine came up to me and was all excited that he is going to his first "Dave" concert this summer. He's not a big fan but said he always wanted to see them live. At the end of our conversation I mentioned that it was Dave and Tim and not the full band this summer and he was shocked. He had no idea that the band wouldn't be there and was kinda disappointed. Anyway, I'm sure there will be a lot of casual fans that want to go to "Dave" this summer that have no idea its just Dave and Tim.

I get the mindset because everyone thinks "Dave" as DMB but it says clearly on all media about the tour Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds

Never seen Dave and Tim, believe it or not, so I'm going this year. Interested to see if I get tickets through WH or if I have to do the general sale.

This further proves to me that people don't take the time to read. They just see a quick meme or tweet and can't even read a full sentence. It's the reason for so much wrong with the world. It clearly says Dave and Tim!!

This makes me laugh and realize that the people I associate with aren't the only idiots. Most of my friends know that I travel a lot and spend my Summers following DMB around. DMB also never performs in NOLA so when dave & tim announced Jazz Fest, my phone blew up, like it always does when they play here. I grew so tired of explaining to people why I was not going mainly because no one understands the fact that the BAND will not be playing. The majority of them are casual fans as well so when they hear this they either stare blanky or just don't believe me. I am thinking there will be a lot of dissatisfaction and let downs with this summer tour. For the fact that people don't pay attention to anything and are just stupid.

    Absolutely.

The concern though is how attentive the disappointed people are going to be.

Worse than the ones who will just talk over it will be the ones hooping and hollering and trying to pump up the crowd because "it's fucking DAVE, man!!" You see these jokers at D&T theater shows, so I'm guessing their numbers will grow at amphitheaters.

Had quite the preview of this at the Standing Rock show. An otherwise very nice couple next to me from new jersey said exactly that... IT'S FUCKIN DAVE MAN!!! Most of the crowd was standing the whole time. This is in constitution hall, on a Sunday... very small theater. They were big DMB fans for sure (guy knew it was little thing right away and everything), but had never been to D+T.

I really don't mind standing at a D+T show when they really pick it up... in fact I would be disappointed if we didn't, but I'm not try to stand the whole time through Oh, OOMH, DOTHS, and all that. But... that's what's gunna happen for sure. People will think it's DMB.
