That's if you go the cheapest option, Andrew, which not everyone will get. So you can't just say it like that and chalk it up to that, but I get what you're saying. the trip cost vs expected outcome in worth/value, however, do not equate. For people who travel all of the country for the band still, then yeah it's like a trade off since there are no band shows next year, but this is probably the least exciting "exotic destination" event that I've ever seen advertised.

which is surprising to me that the most expensive packages went first, i thought it would be the other way around. curious to see how quickly stuff sells out when it gets to the public onsale

My girlfriend and I just booked a club premium junior suite at the barcelo maya (apple vacations) for 2,495.00/all-in including non-stop airfare and hotel transfers. Worst case scenario we watch the show from the beach just outside the venue, which people say has a decent sight line and good sound. It would cost around 6k for the same package if we bought the resort package and the only difference is entry to the show.

If someone decides to rent a boat for a closer view, please let us know!

What do you do for a living?

$4k for a vacation is pretty realistic for a lot of people I know.

It's not cheap, but people make their own choices.

I'm blown away at the people buying the top packages for $6-$8k

While overpriced for three D&T shows it's really not that expensive. Plenty of bands do the same thing at the same venue - Phish, Panic, a ton of country artists.

Spending a few thousand on a resort vacation is pretty standard.

Only commenting on the exotic destination aspect... Most bands only do a lot of these types of events around these areas of Mexico.

I've never seen any advertised in any truly exotic spots outside of this touristy bullshit.

Luv it! You have got to follow up on this! Pictures of Seal Team type entry with face black, nite vision and re-breather. Crawling up the beach like a Sea Turtle amongst the overpaying stalkers.

I took my family of six to Disney for ten days, we stayed in a moderate level hotel there and tix/food for 4k so three days for less people I wouldn't say is good but I agree many people do it and that's their option

Oh I never said it was a good deal or cheap.

I don't have kids and it's doable so why not?

If I had kids and had to choose between spending my money on Disney with the family or going on this trip I can't say what choice I'd make.

If I had kids I probably wouldn't make half of the choices I make

I can see how many have a hard time understanding this cost of this trip... Just my opinion. I went to Ireland for 10 days, drove 1200 miles of the coast, stayed in a 5-stay resort where we had our own 1500 foot cottage, every other hotel we stayed in was on the 4 star level and I still didn't spend near $1700.

I take a lot of vacations, always have. I don't think I've ever spent this much. Yes, there's a lot to take into account, I understand, I can just see where people are coming from that are having a tough time fathoming it.

Just curious, how did you pull that off for so cheap? DISNEY Parks are around 100 a day per person. 4 day pass 400 x 6 plus hotel accommodations plus food. Add airfare if you can't drive.... Can't imagine it only being 4K

haha, i'll be sure to bring my snorkel gear and jump waves to d&t.

in my mind we basically have the equivalent of lawn tix, which is completely fine considering the "PIT" is nearly 4k more...now it would be a complete homerun if they decide to sell concert tix separately or we stumble upon wristbands last minute..regardless, we are thrilled to be going.

You must've gotten some great deals or were slumming it by Disney standards for that price. Six ten-day park hoppers run close to $2,500 alone.

That said these band trips are incredibly overpriced. Staying at the host resort for Phish was something like $1400 the weekend after the shows. The math for two people worked out to about $500 a ticket for each night of Phish. You're paying for the experience of seeing a band on the beach at an all inclusive resort in Mexico though, which is pretty sweet.

And it's only money. You can't take it with you. If I wasn't going to the Mexico in April I'd be all over this. Just can't see going to Mexico twice in 2 months.

4k for a family of 6? I call bullshit. The ONLY way this is feasible is if your children are under 3. First of all, Disney will not allow 6 people in a standard room not including infants. As it is, there are only a few options to sleep 5 max. When you have 6 people, you are paying for a family suite, renting DVC points, or paying for 2 rooms. All options that will run you more than 4k JUST for the hotel. Add in park tickets and food and you are way over that mark. Now, if you have very small children it's a different story. Under 3 and you aren't really paying for much of anything. If that's the case, come and talk to me when your kids are no longer considered "Disney kids" and you are paying full price for your family of 6, until then this really isn't a fair comparison since you aren't actually paying for some of them. Your bill will be WELL over 10K at that point.

Trip was absolutely understood no- brainer as soon as my wife and I saw. Price is basically median for what we spend on a couple vacations a year right now. My sister, step bro/ wife coming too.

Am glad seniority finally accounted for something, 12/21/98. I'm entirely expecting 75 songs/ no repeats, and him to pull out a number of songs we deem special. Hopefully they'll consider a release of some kind as well.

These prices are an insult to fans. All inclusive hotels in Mexico go for $100-$200 a night. So these tickets are $300-$500 per show? Hard pass.

This has been close to fully debated, but I will say that for me the whole (3 D&T shows on the beach in Mexico at an all inclusive resort surrounded by like-minded people) is worth more than the sum of its parts. You would probably have to pay me to go to an all-inclusive resort like this if there weren't nightly D&T shows. But this is a great way to see a "destination-style" 3-night run that I can literally walk to without having to camp out for it (a reason I've yet to go to the Gorge). That's worth the price tag for me.

thats what you get with an exotic locale, and a much smaller venue. it means more cost to set this all up, and less people to buy tickets and pay for it all.

this is not quite the same as some local show with 20K people in a big city
