First two episodes of Nurse Jackie are online if anyone else was looking forward to its return.

That's a bit much, but you can definitely tell the writers knew what they wanted the show to be after season one.

speaking of the best comedy on TV, Veep returns tonight and I urge anyone with HBO or access to torrents to give this a watch. Just a brilliant show.

Parks & Rec is the best comedy on TV right now. Veep is pretty funny but has none of the character development Parks & Rec has (granted that it doesn't need to).

when you look at the entirety of each, which do you think is superior -- Parks & Rec or Community?

I really don't care about character development in comedies. It's a nice perk, but overall, I want comedies to be funny. Archer probably has the best comedic character development overall.

Really tough question. The more I think about it the more I go towards P&R because I think it is so consistent and the wedding episode was one of the most perfect episodes on television (not to mention it is impressive as hell to keep writing successful potential finales). Community is obviously more inventive and it had better high's than Parks & Rec despite being less consistent (just amazing that the Dreamatorium episode last year even exists).

If you asked me this last year I probably would have said Community, but seeing as we are counting everything, I say P&R at this point. It's been on longer and been more consistent. The acting is arguably better there too.

Yea but see I think when a show has that going for it, those are the ones ultimately with the best material because the comedy is coming from the situations, it's not merely a 22 minute block of set up/punchline lined up one right after the other, the likes of 2.5 Men or Big Bang Theory.

I think P&R is funnier than Veep anyway, so the character development puts it over the top. And I disagree, I think there needs to be some character development. 30 Rock is a great example of a show that stalled with its characters and only really started to get great again when it developed them more.

I've only been watching Archer for this last season.

Veep and archer two of the funniest shows on tv. I'll give p+a a try. Modern family up there as well.

Modern Family really plateaued for a good chunk of season 3, though there have really been a couple of home run episodes here in the second half of season 4.

btw, how did everyone feel generally speaking about the 2nd season of Girls, in comparison to the first? I didn't see any of it, and considering I wasn't nearly as impressed with s1 as so much of the rest of the world seemed to be, I've been trying to decide if I wanted to bother starting to go thru s2.

I gave up on Girls after about 4 episodes, so I can't comment.

I think P&R overall has been better than Community. It's more solid. Community has hit higher highs (but it's still close) but Parks and Rec is just really good every week. This last episode killed me.

"Adapted from Tom Perrotta’s 2011 book, The Leftovers was written for television by Lindelof and Perrotta with Berg set to direct the pilot. The story “takes place after the Rapture happens but not quite like it’s supposed to,” and focuses on, “the people who didn’t make the cut.”

Season 2 of Girls started off pretty good but got terrible by the end of it. Lost a lot of the things that made it a pretty solid show (mostly the laughs) in the first season.

At one point, I think this was going to be on AMC with Walton Goggins playing the lead. Then Goggins ended up getting on with Justified.

I'm struggling through the first season of Girls. I only have the last episode left. It's a love/hate relationship with that show for me. Most episodes are horrid with a few good parts.

The only episode I like all the way through was Welcome to Bushwick a.k.a the Crackcident.

I almost said something along those lines. That 15 second scene was the best part of season 2, along with Omar in court.
