Yeah this, if I'm on a roll I'll just shoot the wife a text and tell her I'll be a little later than usual, getting a lot done at the moment. She's always cool with it. More time for her to watch her Bravo shows
The only time I intentionally stay late regardless of how much I'm getting done is when the founding partner is there, about once or twice a week. When I first started, the other associate told me it's good to stick around when he's there for some face time. He's a really nice guy, but based on tha convo early on I'm not trying to unnecessarily test the goodwill I've built up with him.

I'm with you on the 8-9 am thing. That's part of the reason I actually try to get to work early, because I know I'm going to have an unproductive first hour starting my day. It's nice to get to the office, sort of ease into the day with a coffee and breakfast while scrolling through Ants and otherwise catching up. Unless I'm super busy I'm almost never doing shit for like 45 min when I first get to work
