Everything really. The acting, the writing, the direction, the soundtrack, originality. It's one of my aspirations as a filmmaker to make something as good as Boogie Nights, however unreachable that might be. I think it's a pretty amazing accomplishment how PT Anderson made a rather depressing story, and yet made it so wildly entertaining to watch all the way through.

It was one of the first DVD's I ever owned.

I agree with everything you said besides the acting part in reference to Luis Rodriguez and Marc Walberg. I want to see Marc Walberg do good, unfortunately in every role I see him in it's like he's forcing his lines and trying too hard. Luis Rodriguez did the exact same thing in this movie. Who knows, maybe it was by design and I'm just not sophisticated enough to see it. Although like I said, Marc Walberg gives me that vibe in every movie I see him in.

Shemp sucked balls and was not funny whatsoever. Curly all the way. And more specifically, "Disorder in the Court" all the way.

Wahlberg certainly wasn't the standout, but I think he fit the part of Dirk perfectly. That being said, he's not one of my favorite actors currently working. He does often come off as awkward and forced.

It's hard for me to say who stole the show between Julianne Moore and Burt Reynolds. Both amazing performances, and Moore should have won the Oscar for Supporting Actress that year.

I liked Burt more in that movie, although Julianne Moore was probably "better".
