Re: **Official Jack Johnson Appreciation Thread**

I agree that he sings and dances way too much but I have a sneaking suspicion he does that at jacks request. Jacks shows aren't exactly packed with energy and I see Jack as the self concious anti-showman that needs someone like zach to entertain the audience while he focuses on the music. He does have a good voice and is a cool guy but he can become annoying. He could at least change up the harmonies he sings

I actually really like what Zack Gill brings to Jack's sound, but the bolded is great.

Wow...you must be a super advanced musician...I'm surprised you even wasted your time posting in this thread, as you seem way above it.

I was just having some fun. I do apologize if I offended you.

I wouldn't say I'm super advanced, and it would only take a beginner to notice that any degree of Jack Johnson's musical skill is extremely sub-par. Now there's your comment to make me seem way above it.

I actually liked Brushfire Fairytales but, I never thought it would launch him into headlining major shows (nor should it). It only took a few listens to this album in it's entirety for me to realize his repetitive chords & strum patterns... this became a major nuissance to me & IMO a very obvious flaw for a mainstream musician. I will admit, part of my disdain has been the evolution and success of his career with little improvement on his end as a musician. He gets too much credit (not that he wants it) but, it's just not deserved.

He does write some catchy stuff but, I can only tolerate a song here & there. I'd have trouble listening to his albums in their entirety more than once or twice, let alone the entire catalog.

My initial comment was a playful swipe, this comment is a reaction. I thought I'd share why I said what I said without delving into it too much. I hope that explains it briefly with or w/o merit. In closing... this is an appreciation thread and neither myself nor my initial comment have a place in here. My apologies, no mas bickering.

Saw him in Camden in 2008... great time. Glad that he's playing a little closer to Long Island this time. If this album is anything like STTS, then this tour will be awesome!!

Love the first three albums...not so much Sleep Through the Static. Just a dull effort overall. Only two or three gems on it. I hope jack puts some effort into his songwriting for the next album. En Concert is good too.

For a venue with mostly seats, this is a good thing. Woodlands might be bad ass with actual seat markers to save a spot. But other venues with fold ups will suck.

Are we sure about the all-GA thing? There's a seating chart for the Merriweather show on the 9:30 club website (they're owned by the same people) and it shoulds a GA pit then regular reserved sections and the lawn. Says $55 for pavilion and $35 for lawn.

Merriweather doesn't have removable seats, like most venues. of course you'll pay more to be closer and have a seat as opposed to lawn. so, the pricing will be relevant, but it doesn't necessarily mean that seats will be reserved. from the looks of it, everything will be GA. you CAN have GA with seats, i actually prefer that.
