Keep forgetting to post this but my wife and I are expecting our first on 4/29. Scared, anxious, excited, and it's all happening so fast. The little guy will be here before I know it.

Oh yeah, our second baby girl arrived January 11th at 5:26pm, 7lbs 9oz, 19 3/4 inches. The newborn stage sucks just as much as I remember from the first time around.

    Congrats! Our first was born on 1/27. 6:48pm, 3lbs 15oz, 17 inches.

2 weeks early, we're in our 3rd week in the NICU. Doctors are optimistic he can come home before the upcoming weekend. We're so excited to have him come home soon.

Congrats! My youngest was 10 weeks early & spent about a week & a half in the NICU at West Penn, and then another 4 1/2 weeks at the Children's Home. Those days were definitely long and hard; it's beyond exciting when they finally get to go home! Hope he gets to go home soon.

We're at west penn. Everyone there has been absolutely amazing. It looks like we won't be transferred, and will get discharged. It's been the longest 3 weeks of our lives. We can't complain too much because his due date was 2 days ago, so he's still technically "on time"

At the time, it was the hardest thing I've ever gone through, but all just a memory now.

I love, love, love Dr. Lantzy and Dr. Laneri. The nurses were all awesome as well. Since his stay was going to be longer, the nurses and doctors encouraged us to go there (we knew regardless it was going to be 4-6 weeks at best case before he went home, so it was a better environment for him b/c it was a private room, with soft lights and windows and quiet (and lots of room for us to stay)... plus, his West Penn Drs. rounded there every day).

I never came across Dr. Lantzy. I only spoke to Dr. Laneri once, but he was pretty great. Our primary doctor has been Dr. Krimmel and words just can't describe how awesome she's been. I'm not sure we would have survived the stress without her. All the nurses have just been incredible.

We like to go after rounds so we know what the plan for that day every time we visit. He just got into an open air bassinet last night, so everything seems to be going smoothly.

They installed web cams at each of the isolette stations, so we can see our baby from home almost 24/7. That has been a tremendous help.

We are having the worst time getting our 5 month old to go to sleep....It seems that laying him down for the night is the hardest thing possible....Of course after that he wakes up to feed still at least 2 times.

My wife and the lack of sleep for 5 months is not that thrilled.

Luckily he is pretty damn cute so he has that going for him.

We were there the summer of 2015 and they were just undergoing some changes (naming the new director). I saw Dr. Lantzy more pre-delivery (my water broke and I was an inpatient for a few days before delivery). Dr. Krimmel's family is good friends with my husband's family, so of course she was always great.

That's great to hear they did that; it was always super hard to leave, so I'm sure that helps.

Routine and Environment are the two most important things we've found. Come 8:00p, we start turning lights off, turning down the TV, 8:30p on the dot, we're in the bedroom, lights off, sound machine on. We feed the last bottle in the room they sleep and then lay them down into the bassinet. Sometimes they fuss for a few minutes but usually are down quickly.

It's funny how different kids develop things at different ages. My youngest will be 2 in a few weeks, and still has no slept through the night (except maybe less than 5x) but was was walking at 8 months. Very jealous of you.

My three year old has slept through the night since she was about six-seven weeks. Our two month old has yet to sleep through the night. Four or five hours at the most. She's starting daycare with her sister next week so I'm hoping a new schedule will help her.

Bellamy (17 months old) has slept through the night since about 8 months old. We did sleep training which was the most magical thing ever.

My 2 month old has been sleeping through the night for about the last week. We feed him around 10, 10:30pm or so, and he sleeps straight through until I get up at 5am. I feel like that's going to change any day now, but I'm enjoying it while I can.

It's been brutal, more for my wife since she's the food source, but brutal none the less.

    Re: Expecting/Baby Thread

We're exclusively formula feeding, so we share duties. And since I like to get home early from work, I like to get there early, so I'll get up at 5, feed him, put him back to bed and my wife will get up around 7:30, 8 with him.

Originally, she was supposed to do the over-night feedings, so I could sleep for work. But that lasted, maybe 2-3 weeks before he started sleeping all night anyway. It's been amazing.

I will. Just when you think you are going to get some good quality Z's, BAM...you're fucked.

Sleeping for Parker has been much better since we moved him out of our room/rock and play into his room/crib. We did some sleep training but he still wakes up twice a night....trying to get that to once.
