I've gathered this very quickly, I am absolutely taken aback at how many great songs they have.

And this may be an unpopular opinion, but Port of Morrow is the album that has grabbed me the most. It's just so polished and well-put together. On my 3rd or so listen of it, and I'm getting literal goosebumps listening to It's Only Life. My god, that chorus.

I thought the below excerpt from a Pitchfork review of Wincing The Night Away captures their essence perfectly:

"any of the Shins' best songs evoke a feeling of comfort and closeness that's immediately recognizable but rarely experienced-- intimacy is the band's best weapon, amplifying the subtle ebbs and flows of their music so that the slightest injection of unease or melancholy hits with remarkable force."

hell yes, that was the second song I ever heard by them. New Slang being the first from an indie spotify playlist, no idea how I never heard about that song especially since it was in Garden State. Maybe I should watch that movie haha.
