Don't you realize it is just short for "Dave Matthews Band" and not intended to disrespect the rest of the band.

From my experience, these people are the ones who are always tryin to impress with their "dave" knowledge (or lack of) and get excited for the lovely ladies, and try to predict every song, and don't realize songs like LBV and sledgehammer are covers.

Ouch, you'd hate me then. I even refer to them as "Dave" with my friends who go to concerts with me. With the same people I usually say "preesh" instead of "I appreciate it" though, so I don't think it's any disrespect for the band...just people being lazy and wanting to say 1 syllable instead of 4.

This guy and his sister where sitting in front of us. They were really nice and let us have one of their corndogs before the show got started. Anyway, he was telling us how huge of a fan he was and this was his 20th + show. The band starts playing seek up and all during the intro the brother and sister are looking at each other with a confused look. When dave sings the first few lines me and my brother sing along, "Sometimes I feel like I'm falling!" The guy looks back and says, "what song is this?" I say "it's seek up!" he looks very snobishly at me and says "well if it's after '98 I don't know it." ... come on man

I will sometimes just say Dave when I'm with other DMB fans...No disrespect.
It's like saying I'm going to see Bruce or Springsteen; I don't think too many people
say I'm going to see Bruce and the E Street Band.

Not said at a show, but when I was looking for Rogers tickets someone on craigslist was selling lawns for over 100 each. The caption said "this is a two set show and that is reflected in the price. "

I also say Dave at times. Because I'm lazy.

However, preesh has never crossed my lips. If I'm being to lazy to say I appreciate it, I would use the 1 syllable word, thanks. Personally, I think we should just devolve our language into a series of grunts. Or perhaps derkas. Derka derka doo wop ugh. Just be yourself man.

Got a few from last night. The four directly on front of us couldn't recognize any songs. Half way through the stone "what is this? I don't think I've ever heard it" they had that same level of confusion most of the night until seven. They knew that one! Cheering, dancing, and singing.

Couple next to me when Dave went to the piano on mercy " I didn't know Dave played the piano" "he's like Elton John or that guy from Coldplay" this guy knew every song and had WH tickets. WTF?

I had one on myself last night. I've never heard The Stone and had it at the top of my list as one I'd want to see. After a couple too many in the parking lot, they broke into it during acoustic, but I looked at my buddy and said, "Seek Up." It took me about 10 seconds to click with me. I felt dumb...

Young lady behind me asks "Do they have to move these drums after the first set?" Explained to her that this was Carter's acoustic kit and that they break it down after the first set - larger kit was setup in the backstage for the electric set. She was nice and no one around me made her feel stupid, which was cool. I had the best people around me in the pit last night - makes a world of difference.

It still amazes me that after 7 years, people still don't know he's a permanent touring member.

I don't get why people get mad when fans refer to DMB as "Dave." It's essentially just shortening the name... Not a big deal

I'm ok with someone saying "Dave" until they start saying "he/him" instead of "they/them."
