an interesting topic is being discussed over on another phish forum, phook.net. Someone asked if there are 13 shows throughout the band's history that don't have a single repeat. Some good discussions in there (if you're willing to read the thread), but someone tweeted at David Steinberg, who is the quintessential phish stats guy, and the best he could come up with is 9 shows that dont share a single repeat
those shows are:
Quote:
10/23/84
11/3/84
3/8/85
5/31/85
4/1/86
5/24/86
7/15/17
7/16/17
7/18/17
|
however, as someone on the phook.net thread said...
Quote:
10/23/84 is one song, Makisupa. That can't count as a show. 11/3/84 is said to be incomplete. For all we know, there is a repeat. In fact I think it likely. 3/8/85 is one song. 5/31/85 has one listed song and it says it's incomplete. 5/24/86 says it's incomplete too. Take those out and you're down to the five shows that began this tour plus 4/1/86 which might sneak through because it's a lot of covers and YEM and Hood.

Steinberg probably ran an algorithm without actually looking at the setlists for the shows

i'm still in the "there will be repeats" boat although i dont think there'll be many. the discussion in the aforementioned thread helps back up my, and many others, thoughts.
of course, if phish decides to go all phish on us and not repeat a single song, that would be a very pleasant surprise
