I've not been to a game at TCF, but everyone I've talked to loves it. It's also on campus, and isn't billed as a multi-use facility, which kept the cost way down.
If the built a open air stadium on the Metrodome site, it would make a ton of sense. They're trying to sell the new stadium as another Lucas Oil stadium, but Indianapolis is a vastly different place. They're going to be having 10 football games per year there and Monster Jam. Just like now. They're not going to get Wrestlemania, NCAA Finals, a Super Bowl, or massive trade shows that take advantage of the space.
