    Re: Album of the Day

So for the latter parts of 2016, I feel like I listened to a lot of acclaimed albums I had never heard all the way through before from previous years, and damn I can't believe I haven't listened to some of this stuff before (or at least spent more time with it). Here are the highlights and albums I'll be coming back to for a long time:

The Shins - Port Of Morrow (really their whole discography, but this album is my favorite)
    Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
    Tame Impala - Currents
My Morning Jacket - At Dawn
My Morning Jacket - The Waterfall
    Wilco - Being There
    Passion Pit - Gossamer
    Local Natives - Gorilla Manor
    Phosphorescent - Muchacho

Grizzly Bear is the next band on my list to dive into.

Another thing I noticed is that the lead singer of Fleet Foxes (Robin Pecknold) has a lot of vocal similarities to Jim James. Both bands (FF and MMJ) really use the reverb-soaked style really well)

    All very good albums

Be patient with grizzly bear, I mean I guess it could be a love at first listen type of situation but their songs have a lot to chew on… It took me a solid month before I appreciated veckatimest. As far as indie bands go they are pretty top class production wise

And this tweet sums up that notion very well:

    https://twitter.com/DJ_Bean/status/8...516932?lang=en

For me, there isn't a single skippable song and it's just the most consistent the whole way through. I also happen to like the more collaborative sound.

Perfect album for brightening your day too.

Theres definitely some throw away songs but overall it's not too bad. Ab-Souls new record blows it away.

Best album by anyone in the past 5 years. Absolutely fantastic. Can't wait for Chris Thile and Brad Mehldau's album to drop.
