He's day to day, he wanted to play friday, but gardenhire said no. He had whiplash and was knocked unconscious. No reason to use him when you're so many games up on the tribe.

Sweep of the Indians. I like that.

    Hunter:
    8/21 - 1 for 4 with 2 runs and a solo HR.
    8/22 - 3 for 4 with 3 RBI.
I wish he'd play hurt all the time

Scary ninth, but it appears that the AL can no longer stop the Twins, they can only hope to contain them.

I feel like I wrote this post one month ago in the Alpine thread... KC - we knew you were a blip last year, keep trying... Detroit, good upgrade, keep working - they seem to be headed in the right direction.... Cleveland, good try but they don't have what it takes. That is it for our competition in the AL Central, looks like it will be three division titles in a row . Now, we just have to lock up our rotation for next year.

Oh, and yeah, I did not forget about the Chi White Sox - I said competition - the White Sox will never do it!

    Win Twins!!

nah the Tribe just doesn't have enough seasoned guys to know how to get it done. The White Sox are just like most of the teams in MLB this year. Yeah $$$ helps but...it's about the people you have. The Twins roster doesn't have the best players in the league...but they play the hardest and the best. The Twins develop young talent so well and they pick up vets that fit the system and they never seem to pick up a vet that DOESN'T help in some way. (Kenny Rogers, Henry Blanco, Shannon Stewart are just to name a few that are currently or helped the Twins in the past)

The Twins are just plain the class of the American league...now if they can only get to the big show.

And with that, the magic number drops to 28.

They certainly are the class of the AL. Through good recruiting and excellent farm clubs, they have put together a TEAM. Unfortunately, that's a foriegn concept in many modern sports. Granted there are a few stars on this club, but they have a sum greater than its parts.

P.S.= I'm so glad that Tom Kelly is no longer the manager. Gardenhire is a class act.

close one tonight....nathan almost (bases loaded bottom of 9th) blew another save...

and speaking of ROY Mauer, Morneau were mentioned above...Lew Ford missed rookie status this year by ONE game (maybe even just a few inninngs if I remember correctly)...he would have been in the running as well

why would you want TK gone? He won us two WS and had to endure ownership cutting costs. Can't do much when you're delt a 7-2 offsuit (if I can use a Hold 'em reference)

    Professional:
His attitude was always shit. He never showed any emotion, and made several terrible coaching moves during his career. Yes, he gave us two titles. But he stayed on too long, and everything got quite stale.

    Personal:
His son attended a grade school, junior high school, and then high school in my conference. When he came to watch his son's games, he treated Twins fans like crap. He would bark at little kids looking for autographs, and would generally be sullen to anyone that even tried to say hello. I'm sorry, but he's an ambassador for the franchise whether he likes it or not. Comes with the job, I'm afraid. Plus his son, who was mediocre in athletics, was a starter in all his sports and clearly better players rode the bench because of it.

I took personal satisfaction in blasting TK Jr. in a football game once. Running backs should keep their heads up, lest the defensive back(me) decide to plaster them. I didn't play basketball(he did), but he was pretty bad in baseball. As a catcher, I gave him a ton of shit whenever he came up to the plate.

we I obviously didn't know any of that stuff...and yeah if I had grown up with that I would probably feel the same. But you gotta think that his attitude was always shit because he had shitty players. Why would a guy like that stick around with the SAME team during all those horrible years? I thinik he liked the city and the team. I think...like I said, you probably have your personal feelings about him in your opinion of him I don't. What moves did he make that were bad? I think he's a good manager cause he brought us the two titles. I don't have anything against gardy, but TK wasn't THAT bad.

Wow, I can't believe I am just discovering this thread. I started liking the Twins when I got High Heat Baseball 2000. I really started to like the team and took an interest in them in real life. The Twins are a perfect example of what baseball should be, a bunch of players going out and playing their butts off. No huge names just guys giving it their all and playing like a team. Huge Radke and Hunter fan. Wish I could see the Twinkies womp on the O's next week at Camden but it doesn't look like it will happen (at least I can see it on TV).

    Let's go Twins!!!

The Indians are getting ready to make one more run, but next year is what you need to worry about.

Good luck in the playoffs, though. I always like to cheer on a fellow Central Divisioner (except the White Sox).

    Re: Minnesota Twins

Just decided I am going to watch the Twins womp on the Orioles on Monday (this is a big deal for me, I go to maybe two games a year-usually at Yankee Stadium or Fenway-and I certainly never see the Twins play). Looks like Mullhullond Mulhullond is going to pitch, would have loved to see Radke or Santana pitch but I am just happy to be seeing them at all.

After buying tickets in the North East these tickets are damn cheap too!

Speaking of Morneau, there are some people saying he's a possible future Barry Bonds caliber of player. With his talent and strength already, he's got amazing potential.

Although I would guess (and very much hope) that he'll have a better attitude that Bonds.

Twins squeaked it out last night in quite a nail-biter. Mr. Cuddyer came through big time.

It stinks that we had to lose Mientkiewicz, being a multiple gold glove winner and all. However, he was hitting only marginally well, and was far more expensive than Morneau, who could very well be a big star in the game. I still think that the Twins should have gotten a major leaguer in that deal, but Justin Jones could be their next Ace in the rotation if he doesn't mess up the arm(ala Scott Erickson)
