It does sound quite different, still an incredible tune. Probably my favorite on the new album.

Yeah, that is pretty much a perfect set for me. I've never seen All The Wine and Secret Meeting owns. Raleigh lucked out. They don't change up their sets too much, but they do the perfect mix of old and new.

There aren't many bands out there that can write a setlist as good as that one, in my opinion.

Fucking awesome. Rained like a motherfucker off and on. Also, I'm such a sucker for Fake Empire. The Red Hat Amphitheater is literally cutout inside the downtown of Raleigh. The backdrop is this: http://cdn.bluegrasstoday.com/wp-con...04/red_hat.jpg

I love these 5 song encores, and love that they're still doing Mr. November/Terrible Love/Acoustic Vanderlyle to close the show. Such a great ending run.

I'm gonna be so melancholy if they don't schedule any more dates in the south.

    So what did you think?

Anyone else catch the bonnaroo stream? God damn this band is amazing, they really need to announce more US dates.

Since Saturday, I've probably gone through the band's entire discography half a dozen times while working. About halfway through I decided that it was high time to try and chart my favorite songs.

Next week they probably won't look anything like this.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Tall Saint (and the entire Virginia EP) is massively underrated. I actually prefer it to Cherry Tree. Likely wouldn't be in my top 10.

Slow Show is #1 for me on most days. It's like Berninger ripped my head open, saw how it worked, then wrote about it.

I adore The Virginia EP. I probably listen to that opening four song run more than any single National album.

As for your second statement, I feel like I could say that about the vast majority of the band's songs. All these years later though, Slow Show still strikes a nerve that I didn't even know I had.

I'm so looking forward to seeing them again in September. I haven't had a chance to since Lollapalooza 2010. They're playing at this gorgeous venue in Louisville that I didn't even know existed : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q-IZ6FJeaT...E/s1600/t1.jpg

I listen to their b-sides quite a bit, some really great tracks there.

The new album is really hitting home. I loaded up their discog in my car disc changer and I really look forward to TWFM coming up every go around.

I was watching a live version on youtube and one of the commenters actually answered my question.

Listen to Time by Hans Zimmer from the Inception soundtrack. The two songs have a similar sound in a way.
