i don't know...Jake is great, but i haven't always agreed with him on his recent opinions, specifically his thoughts on BWGGK.

Also, he said it didn't stand out on first listen. Most of my favorite DMB tracks were not at all favs on first listen.

Yes, especially since the hype he gave Time Bomb. Even studio, I don't care for that song. Sounds like something a 70s rock band puked out and had Dave sing over.

In addition, he doesn't like Fool To Think.....that's actually a great tune! It's a tough time sig and the guitar riff is very good. The lyrics aren't bad either. I love the "I'd dance a thousand steps for you...if you say yes to me, I'll do whatever gets you through" and I REALLY like the end jam they did this year with it.

SO, yes, it'll be a gem....

Agreed, he said this song didn't grab him...which in my opinion doesn't have to happen the first time you hear a song for it to be great.

He doesn't like LITHOG from BW and it is by far my favorite...that song doesn't "grab" you the first time you hear it, but when you sit down and really listen to it, it is amazing.

I am really excited after Lillywhite tweeted that to hear Rooftop.

I really think the only song I am going to have to skip on this album will be Sweet...I am really digging everything else I am hearing!

So with jakes first impressions and any subsequent opinions about this album I can't trust because I disagree completely with his thoughts on big whiskey.

Lillywhite understands this band and fanbase...if he says the fans will like it he is talking about the hardcores...we should all be pumped for Rooftop. It is the second longest song and has very different sections according to LW...I am so pumped I can't wait.

so what is this potential then? the song is like 4 minutes long and the band doesn't even come in until its 2/3 of the way over. there are so many problems with the song live, i can't see it being much better on the album.

To be fair, I have only heard poor quality rips of Sweet and If Only. Like I said, I won't make any final judgments until the final album cuts are released bc I know that some songs just don't translate. But Gaucho is just bleh.

Not sure how I feel yet about If Only. But, I love Guacho and can't believe so many are negative on it. What a strong song and so well-produced. Sweet is a gorgeous song, simple and heartfelt.

a simple song about teaching his son to swim turns into a metaphor about life and growing old. this is imo the one of the best songs dave has EVER written.
