Kind of reminds me of the VA Beach show: Great energy and spot on performance, but the overall music and lyrics are so very important, which is why that show was terribly freakin' disappointing.

Oh, and Last Stop and Hunger don't belong in the same sentence, setlist, catalog, whatever.

But Hunger is short enough that its pretty harmless. Its when they decide to triple the length of an already bad (or even good) song that things get ugly. I'm already having disturbing visions of a 15 minute Hunger for the 2009 summer tour.

HUSH, no need to give us nightmares...

agree, its briefness makes it not terrible

Other than taking LB over Jimi ever in a million years, I totally agree with you. But I feel the same way about a lot of songs, unfortunately. 41, OSW, Watchtower...
Watchtower can seriously go to hell. It's another one I've heard WAY too many times live. The last show it closed the encore at was the fastest I've ever gotten out of the parking lot, I promise you that.

As for Hunger... I never really loved or hated it on the album the first couple listens. I never really focused on it, I guess. When they played it at my first 2005 show in Atlanta, it had this...."umph" that isn't there on the album. Dave sort of screamed or emphasized the chorus, and it had great energy. I really liked it that night, but versions that I've heard since then haven't reproduced that energy. Maybe it's just the ones I've downloaded and the one on RR05. I'm sure I'll see in about a month. Better than Last Stop on a snowy day in hell, however.

OP: I don't agree, but I admire you posting your opinion, no matter how unpopular it is. Saying HFGTL > Last Stop takes some big balls. I think its disgusting that people resort to personal attacks just because they don't agree with you. You DON'T suck, and you DON'T necessarily have poor musical taste. Music is all up for interpretation and we all hear and enjoy different things.

Another thing to all you bashing the song and saying you dont like it...Do you Clap or cheer after it is played or do you stand back and say to your buddy next to you "i cant beleive they playing this song its terrible" ? since you all dont like it next time your at a show why dont you send them a message and boo it go ahead id love to see the reaction you would get. All of Dave Matthews Band is amazing, if it is so-so or "bad" on the studio tracks he can turn it around tottally when playing it live.

    DMB is the BEST!

i sing along to every song they play and clap/cheer after each one. just because i don't like the song doesn't mean that i'm gonna bitch and mope around my seat for the next five minutes.

and concerning the bolded: hunger isn't all that different from the album version. the only diff. i notice is the ending which is a lot more intense live. i'm too tried to listen to it right now but i don't recall any jams in the live versions and all the live track listings i have are shorter than the studio track.

the hunger at camden this summer had a neat little groove roi and ross added behind the main melody, subtle, but i like the little things

Hunger's great, and I think it's really fun to hear at a show, but Last Stop is a masterpiece, though it has a little less energy this year than in '98, imo.

Wow this is the absolute worst transition ever. Almost as bad as if during the Jimi Thing jam at the end they do a little......."Stop baby what's that sound.........THE IS THE LAST STOP" and BAM Tim Reynolds and Bela Fleck step out from hidding behind Rashawn and continue to play the best version of Last Stop EVER.

Anymore people like you with those kind of poor opinions, will be the complete death of dMb.

If you really feel Hunger is > Last Stop?! I wish you would somehow fall in love with another band.

I dare anyone here to sing Hunger for the great Light outloud to thmeselves right now! I challenge you!!!

You'll laugh at yourself not because you can't sing but because they are quite possibly the worst lyrics Dave has ever written.

Sorry Lewis Smooth Rider is waaay better musically AND lyrically then Hunger.

Come on Marco. You've been a fan for a long time, you should know better than that. Even if you thought Hunger was minimally better, you should still admit that Rider is an enormous turd and an awful song. Why is it waaaaay better musically and lyrically? Because they jaaaaam? Whoooohoooo!!!!

When I hear Smooth Rider I think
    a) These lyrics were rejected by Bon Jovi when he was writing for Young Guns
    b) This music is derivative of every single blues rock song that's ever existed.
    c) It isn't even catchy, which is pathetic. If you're going to write total shit corporate bullshit, at least make it fucking catchy. Even Bayou is catchy.

Are you kidding me? Poor opinions? Who deems them as great, you? Damn, I hope not. Its not people like the original poster who posted his personal opinion (however unpopular it is) to have a discussion that will be the death of DMB, it's people like you, who will eventually turn off the band by your arrogance and negativity. And to say he's not worthy of loving this band because he likes one song over another? Get off your fucking high horse.

Yes, actually at Columbus this year, I said to my friends "I hate this song" then proceeded to go to the restroom, buy a beer, and be back in time for Nancies.

Actually, I think there would be a little bit of following here.

    DMB is the BEST!
Glad to see you'd be excited if DMB put out a cover of "Genie in a Bottle".

Completely agree - one of their worst songs, maybe their worst.
