Grama wants to go to Riverbend

Has anyone ever had a rather, umm, advanced in age parent or grandparent, like in their 80s want to go along to a show. the crowds are always tame and respectful to people but Riverbend has in my experience had some of the more drugged up and spaced out patrons. I'm wondering if it's a good idea and if the new more robust sound will be palatable for her.

my parents have tagged along to 10 or so shows with me and my brother but an 80y/o lady out there could be interesting. how do ya'll tink this'll go over?

They're 80. Trust me, they've seen drugged out morons before.

If my grandmother said, "I want to go see DMB", I would be ecstatic. That is a positive sign of life, my friend.

Totally agree! I like your grama!

Maybe secretly carry some earplugs in your pocket just in case she says it's too loud.

I hope she will dance at least a little at the show. Let us know how it goes.

Also, you may want to introduce her to a few songs that she is likely to hear and may like (if she isn't already familiar with the band's music).

Well... okay... I did kind of forget about how Jeff ravages his poor innocent instrument on stage half the night... that does get a little trying after awhile.

She knows a decent amount of the music, and she goes to a lot of my shows so she can handle the volume

It was two lines when i put it there but it gets fucked up when I post it for some reason. but its dated and unreadable anyway. I think I'll change it today. unless i get lazy

No one approaching 80, but I've taken parents/family to two shows (Chula 09 and Shoreline 10), and will be taking my mom to Chula 12 too. She turned 70 a few months ago, but is a young 70.

My 60 year old dad went to a show and loved it. He said if he had a heart attack, not to worry--Carter's bass drum basically feels like a defibrillator.
