It's funny ya know, I can't remember ever looking forward to a movie more, but where I already knew the ending, and really the whole story
So true! I think the last time I was this excited to see a movie was Toy Story 3. The movies I look forward to see and actually see them on opening day are the stories I'm most attached to. Seeing a movie on its opening day is rare for me, I usually say I'll go see it, but in the end not go at all.

I really can't believe only 18 more days!

    Agreed.

I mean the character. I dunno what it is, but he's kind of a puss. Though, I did like that he gave Harry a heads up in terms of how to get the hint out of his egg.

I wouldn't call him a puss... he definitely has the pretty-boy thing happening, which I'm usually not that into... but... Sorry, Pattinson just does it for me.

I mean, Edward >>>>>> Cedric on the hot scale. I think I was more/less comparing it that way. Pattinson isn't as hot in HP as he is in Twilight. Age could have something to do with it, too.

I take back my previous comment about Snape. I think he's actually evil. OR a really good spy for the Ministry of Magic.
I'm just waiting for the Ministry of Magic to be taken over by Voldemort and his crew. That way, it'll follow Star Wars even better.

i love reading through at your progress and seeing how your predictions are shaping up. Kinda like when LA loved my reviews of first time viewings of Star Wars.

    They look like lesbians.

I need to step my game up if I'm gonna have these books re-read before the movie. I'm 5-6 chapters deep in OOTP.

this is kinda cool I think. They've made a Potter Watch broadcast with Fred & George in correlation with the video game of the movie.

I stopped re-reading the entire series before each movie came out after OOTP because I was sooo fresh on the details and my idea of what it should be that I was very dissapointed. (And that was one was...well...way off from the book imo) I didn't do it for HBP and was much happier with the movie.

I remember the basic story line of DH (I've read it like 10 times ). I just dont want to go into this with my ideas of it like I have in the past. I'm afraid I'll hate it....

Now, I am re-reading everything but DH to get all the background details fresh in my mind, though

I'm rereading DH right now and it's a sorrowful feeling knowing how much of what I'm reading is going to be left out. Every details seems so important in the novel.

SPOILER EDIT: I'm really pissed they lost Grimmauld Place on the way back from the Ministry when they're trying to steal the locket from Umbridge...such a heartbreaking turn of events having to end up in a random forest instead of the house that holds so much meaning and history.

Well, duh, seeing how they raped half the details out of OOTP and HBP, I figured as much was gonna happen. That's why it's sad as I'm reading DH, not knowing how any of this stuff could be left out because it's all seems a tiny, but important, layer in the fabric of the HP story.

Just started Half Blood Prince. Snape just proved to be a complete dick bag. I have a feeling he'll redeem himself in the seventh one.

Someone is dying by the end of this book, I can tell. My guess is Dumbledore or Hagrid. I'm leaning towards Dumbledore. I bet Snape kills him.

    FUCK!

well, this book is kinda like Star Wars. Kid finds out that he has special powers, and that his parents were killed by a monster. The evil side is starting to take over everything that is good, and it will ultimately result in good fighting back and ultimately winning.

It's the story of Jesus, really. Any successful story has to do with a seemingly common person having a seemingly impossible task to overcome evil and sacrifice himself for the greater good of destroying things that are bad. Sacrificing doesn't mean dying, but it means putting him (or her, but usually him) self in the path of insane danger to save the lives of others.

It's the heroic life pattern: unusual circumstances of birth, leaves family to live with others, traumatic event leading to quest, special weapon, supernatural help, proves himself on said quest, goes on a journey, has an unhealable wound, atonement with father figure, ambiguous death/lack there of.

I'm teaching a Harry Potter as Hero class next year. I'm so effing psyched.

    Exactly.

I wish I could come up with something like that, because any story with that pattern is always completely successful and always works.

And that does sound awesome. My life's goal is to get to a point of "power" in the sense where I can start making classes like that common in school systems.

I pitched it to my curriculum council as a way to get high school aged kids reading. They eat that shit up.

I mean, who gives a fuck about Holden "Emo" Caufield anyways? That stuff is crap. Read things that are pertinent and fun today.

I am a whore to the classics, but I don't consider Catcher to be one of them. Overrated, and an excuse for emo kids to act like assholes.

I hated... HATED.... Catcher In The Rye. I couldn't relate to it on any level at all, and Holden annoyed the high holy shit out of me. And his over use of the word Phony.

Every semester, some yahoo says that "Catcher in the Rye" is one of their favorite books and I call them out, only to discover they haven't read it since they were 15.

    That's why it's your favorite....you're stupid when you're 15.
