What (besides politics) irritates you?

beach generally means hot and humid. i've lived on a beach before. i live in Houston. we have a beach house/airbnb.

if i'm going on vacation, i'm going somewhere cooler like colorado or northern.

unless it's a beach somewhere else like belize or costa rica. i'd like to see those beaches.

I definitely dont spend as much time on the beach itself when im there as others. I normally just hang out in the water then go up to my chair and have a few beers, then dip back in if I get too hot.

I dont know how people can just lay there for hours at a time.

My normal routine when im there is head down after breakfast for a couple hours. Come back for lunch and hang out at the pool, then go back for a little before dinner.

Hot sand is the worst.

Add some bochi, paddle ball, a football, frisbee, boogie board! I also surf fish a lot. Family time can't be underestimated either, great being there with all the kids.

Biggest draw of our yearly beach trip is the fresh seafood and spending time with family.

I enjoy the days off and getting some sun, but I wouldn't have to go to the beach for that.

No law against it that I am aware of. I agree with you that just randomly lighting up without even bothering to take in your surroundings is a dick move. Even in places I KNOW I am allowed to smoke I look around and if kids are nearby I do not light up, if someone is eating nearby I will move away before lighting up, if there is someone who is not smoking at a smoking bar I ask if it will bother them before I light up. etc, etc. The only time I do not bother to worry is when I am in a cigar bar where I know no children will walk in, no food is being served and the chance of a non-smoker entering is very minimal and if they do walk in they damn well KNOW that the place will be smokey.

That is now twice in the past decade I have been pulled over for technical violations of the law and the officer acted like he did me a favor by not giving me a ticket - last time it happened I was on the Jersey turnpike, saw an accident happen in my rearview and I called 911 to report it rather than doing a U turn - next thing I knew I was pulled over being read the riot act for using a handheld phone in my car and the guy only got off his high horse when I handed him the phone to speak to the police dispatcher whom I still had on the line.

There's like 12 more reasons to quit smoking right there.

Does swimming make the beach awesome or just the overall vibe at the beach? If I don't go swimming, then I can basically do everything I do at the beach, at home. I'm neutral. I'll go but its not the first thing I want to do when its nice out.

Edit: Also, as someone who has a very close friend with a boat (NEVER own a boat yourself). Boat>Beach.

We are 100% lake people. My parents keep a boat at one lake, in-laws live on another lake, and we have various friends with lakehouses and boats. So we're at one or the other as many weekends as possible.

For me "the beach" is just part of a bigger getaway to a nice area, nice town, good food, etc. I don't particularly love the beach itself.

Thanks, just reminded me - I have one more Montechristo left from my last trip outside the US. I also have a nice bottle of 12 year old bourbon to go with it. Maybe if the weather is good I will knock off both while watching the Yanks later on!

When my family and I go to the OBX we get an Ocean Front property and we're out in the sand/surf by 9am every single morning. We come in for lunch/break from the sun, head back out and stay there until dinner. After dinner it's usually rinse off in the shower whether that be in the house or one of the EOSs, then it's back out to the dune deck/beach for a walk.

I'm not spending thousands of dollars to go to the ocean to not spend time at the ocean.

There's probably only 1 day during the week where we get up and get ready to spend the day away from the house.

The sand can get annoying that for sure. But I generally like the beach itself. But the town and atmosphere and food it's always amazing.

I love being at the lake. this weekend the wife, baby and I are heading up to lake winnipesauke NH for a mini getaway and i cant wait

Im not sure where they are made, pretty sure its in the US.

They are moderately priced. Under $20-30, they made a good variety.

Theyre very sweet on the lips if thats your thing. They give you a great buzz.

The beach town we go to has multiple pools that are really cool. Sometimes we just take a break from the beach for a day and just enjoy the pools.

One time we made hot dogs and brought them to the beach for dinner. It sounds kinda trashy but it was damn good. Drinking beer and eating hotdogs and watching the sunset. Good times man!
