talked to my buddy at work and he said, "watch the game last night? bard sucked huh?"
that's exactly the reaction i'm expecting. it's not fair to bard either. people saw him in the 8th innning for a couple years and figure he'll be an ace in the rotation.
he had 16 swings and misses yesterday which is damn good for a guy that only threw basically 2 pitches. he maintained the velocity on his fastball pretty much to 100 pitches his first time out, he gave up 5 ground ball base hits against a good hitting team
i really liked what i saw from bard last night and i can see him being a guy that picks up some important experience before they put him in the pen towards the end of the summer. i really hope for his sake they give him atleast 10-12 starts this season, if they let him go until the end of the summer it'll be more like 17-20
