Having said that, Gorge N3 was awesome, and having been at Cville and the Gorge shows, the Gorge destroys Cville '10
Well, the energy and performance of a song or show is absolutely a factor. There are better and worse versions of the same song tour after tour. If every performance were the same, there would be no need to have multiple live releases and no one would ever clamor for particular versions of a song. It certainly plays a role.

When people who didn't go to a show try to tell the people who did that it wasn't as good as they think it was...

It's the same people who always judge a show based solely on the setlist. They're probably the same people who were surprised to hear Catcher in the Rye wasn't about a baseball player in a wheat field.

For people who were at both shows - how did the atmospheres compare? Was one show more emotional/sentimental or laid back/fun than the other? I wasn't a fan in 2010, but based on what I've seen people say on here, it seems like the C'Ville shows had much more hype and energy than the Gorge did this year. Just curious.

All I can say is I have not seen either the Gorge Venue or the campground that packed since the 90's early 2000's. There where people on Saturday that did not get in to the show. They even opened the far right gate as you leave the venue which I have also not seen in over 10 years.

So the place was packed with fans from all over the country, when you put in that much effort to get to a place that is overwhelming beautiful with a sold out crowed of fairly hard core fans...

The energy was pretty solid the whole weekend.
