I can't wait for this! How many body parts do you need to collect from the bay to win gold again?

Should've moved the Olympics back to Atlanta last minute since it's the 20 year anny.

I like watching the Summer Olympics more than the Winter because I can relate a tad more. Swimming, gymnastics, 100 mm, soccer, etc all of those sports are great to watch when we have a great chance to win them. Love beating China and seeing the melts.

We have four Olympians from my area that I'll be rooting for: Frank Molinaro (wrestling), Joe Maloy (triathlete), Nia Ali (100 hurdles) and Sam Ojserkis (coxswain on men's eight crew).

I actually have a feature in our paper tomorrow on the coxswain. I didn't print this but he basically said some of the older rowers are knocking up their wives before they leave in case they get Zika

Normally I'm happy for all athletes involved, no matter what country they come from. This year, I feel terrible for them having to go to a place like Rio for what might be their only chance in their lives to compete in the Olympics.

yeah. most of these athletes get one shot and they are told "hey if your event includes swimming in the ocean try and not swallow any water because you'll be insta sick" its ridiculous.

anyone see the USA basketball team has to live on a cruise ship?

They were, I was 18 years old right out of HS and living just outside of Atlanta at that point. Every restaurant was crowded, traffic was a mess, getting on and off that damn MARTA was a nightmare, every drunk on the planet seemed to have descended on Atlanta and Buckhead and frankly the games were not all that great. Mostly what people remember is the bombing and the fact that the US absolutely cleaned house in the medal count.

All that said, I will take a city like Atlanta in a first world nation over Rio or Qatar or any other second or third world place.

of course Atlanta is better than a 3rd world city, but it was by far the worst games in a 1st world location

sure the US dominated and Strug's performance was memorable, but other than that they were a complete disaster in so many ways

Yeah, that is about all I plan on watching live. I am curious who the US women will use as a starting 11 in an hour when they start defending last years World Cup. Guessing they go with a 4-4-2 and have Solo in net. Defense should be solid again with likely Johnson, Klingenberg, Krieger and O'Hara. No reason to switch up than midfield, leave Lloyd in the high center, Bryan low center and put Rapinoe and Heath on the flanks. Then put Morgan and Dunn or Press up top. Plenty of bodies on the bench to give the girls a rest of they get a solid lead. Will be nice to see Pugh show her stuff if she gets subbed in up top but will be strange not seeing Wambach, Rampone or Lerouix (admittedly it would be tough for a pregnant girl to play) not on the roster.

Lloyd makes it 1-0 early, still up 1-0 at the half. Captain clutch right there!!!! Go USA!

Odd not seeing Rapinoe in there because she is still recovering but Heath is all over the place and Pugh looks pretty damn sharp playing the opposite flank to Heath!
