It was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.

Comparing gourmet burger places to 5 Guys? Quality logic.

Re: It's official; Five Guys > In N Out

There are basically 4 types of restaurant categories in business terms:

Fast Food: McDonalds, In N Out, Burger King, etc.
Fast Casual: Panera, Five Guys, Chipotle, etc.
Casual Dining: Red Robin, Chilis, Olive Garden
Fine Dining: Flemings, Mortons, Th Palm, etc.

So when it comes down to it, Five Guys and In N Out are in two different categories.

In N out = best fast food burger
5G = best fast casual burger

Can we just make it a general rule that mom/pop shops and burgers made on your own grill are better than chains so that it doesn't need to be repeated a billion times?

You have a good memory, except they've had a lot of burgers (especially the 14 year old who spent the summer in the United States), and my mother in law (a native Texan) also went for seconds. Now, all that proves is that from my personal experience, my family has had a different reaction when they introdued to In-N-Out vs 5 Guys; being that in this debate, the most important facts (like higher store sales, or popularity in markets were both chains compete) seem to favor In-N-Out, I can see why 5G fans (which is a good burger btw), love to start new threads/post meaningless surverys.

My beetus doesn't like burgers, but my stomach does. I might actually grab a burger from Foster's Grille today. They're damn good.

Haha, I'm glad you didn't take offense, was just having a go and thought I remembered the story about your family! Fair play! In n Out to me is much like my feelings in general about the city of Phoenix. Its okay. Not horrible. Not very good. Just very generic and bland. Extremely overrated. Its okay every now and then, but wouldn't ever want to experience frequently. 5 Guys, though more expensive is definitely the better tasting burger. I don't go to fast food restaurants for health reasons, so I don't really care if In n Out uses fresh potatoes or lettuce. I go for taste, and I prefer 5 Guys!

In N' Out seems to be an elitist, left coast thing. I've never had it, but that's the vibe I get.

    Five Guys is way overrated.

I have less regard for what I put in my body than most people, but even by my standards Five Guys burgers are greasy and gross.

From a business perspective, thats how restaurants are categorized. I was just wondering what other categories you were thinking of and what restaurants fit in to them respectively.

Huh. That's bizarre. Because when I lived in NY last year, I heard this all the time. People who never had it before saying how amazing it was when they returned back to NY.

From a business perspective, saying that In N Out and 5 Guys are one level apart and that Olive Garden and Mortons are one step apart, well that is criminally stupid.
