Re: U2 Discussion

The fadeout on The Troubles is criminal.

I really like the alternate version they included on the deluxe edition of SOI. Same goes for the second version of Sleep Like a Baby Tonight.

So, will we see a new album in 2017?

yes. they are just about done with the new album (Songs of Experience), so expect another massive tour towards the end of '17.

    Quote:
U2 will release an updated version of "Red Hill Mining Town" to support the upcoming Joshua Tree Tour 2017, according to the newest issue of MOJO magazine.

The magazine features a lengthy interview with all four band members about the tour and their memories of the time when The Joshua Tree was recorded and released. Near the end of the article is this paragraph:

"Which explains why, for a brand new mix of Red Hill Mining Town helmed by Steve Lillywhite and earmarked for an upcoming release, Bono has gone back to the master and re-recorded his vocal. 'We've also brought out the colliery brass band which was recorded at the time,' says the singer. 'You can't hear it in the original mix.'"

The article has no other details about the upcoming release -- no date is given, etc.

They played a new song called The Little Things That Give You Away last night in Vancouver. After, they showed a picture. Some think it may the cover for the next album, Songs of Experience. It showed Bono's son and Edge's daughter, hand in hand.

My friends drove up to that show. They got there early and then were in line over 2 hours, completely missed Mumford & Sons, and U2 went on 45 minutes late to allow more time for people to arrive. They said U2 was fantastic, but were pissed off at the terrible way the venue handled it.

Saw the setlist from Vancouver and decided to grab a couple GA tickets to Louisville next month. Love seeing some of these tunes getting the dust shaken off of them.

Since it's already almost been 3 years since the last one, I wouldn't be surprised if they make it a typical 4 year wait until sometime in 2018.

I looked at getting a single day Roo ticket so I could see these guys. Not coming anywhere near me. It was going to cost around $220 for one day at Roo (included Nashville shuttle) that dropped me off at 3 PM and picked me back up at 3 AM. I'm not sure I could last on that (not to mention, I'd have to deal with the Roo folks)

These guys are my bucket list to see. Really hope they tour some more after their new album drops.

Pretty excited to see the setlists so far, great opening set and nice to see Ultraviolet in the encore - June is going to be a series of great week-ends for me:

June 9th, 10th, 11th - Formula One Grand Prix du Canada
    June 16th, 17th - Dave and Tim @ SPAC
    June 23rd - u2 @ SkyDome

Will be only my second time seeing u2, the first was Bob Dylan's birthday on the Elevation tour - http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/u2/200...-6bd6fe26.html

This tour will be my second time seeing them as well. Saw them on the 360 tour back in 09. Fell in love with their live show/recordings after watching the Boston & Slane Castle DVD's 15 years ago. Looks like your first show was awesome. Wish Kite and Stay (Faraway, So Close) would pop up again.

Pretty sure I'm done seeing them live unless they have a new LP that re-energizes me about them.

pretty solid show on sat at rose bowl. nice to hear Joshua Tree in its entirety. would have preferred a bit more variation on the non-joshua tree songs, but its u2...you know what you're getting. red zone seats were great.
