Swim, surf, snorkel, scuba, kayak, fish, spear fish. All things I've done my whole life from beaches and bays. I can't think of a place I'd rather spend more time at than the beach hotel I was at last year on Hawaii unless it was a camp spot in baja. Younger me would prefer baja, older me definitely wants the resort but they're both great.
Snorkeling was incredible. 80 degree water and some of the furthest visibility I've ever had anywhere. Fish and rays were friendly and calm. Walk in snorkel for an hour, walk out, have another cocktail; rinse repeat.
Do you east coasters have warm activity beaches other than FL? Honestly no clue here. It might be the beach itself that's the problem, not so much beaches.
