Nicks only has one year left on his deal, it'll be interesting to see what he demands.

Theres definately more to it than just stafford. Not taking anything away from stafford though.
Not for the whole year he wasn't... 10 games if I remember right.

Yup, he did a number on the Kitna/Orlovsky/Henson combo of 2008

edit: almost forgot daunte culpooper was on detoliet that year too!

It's worth noting that Nicks has done this in three less games.
You do realize Calvin played for the Lions his first three years. He had different coordinators and bum QB's. Hakeem has been in the same offense with Eli surrounded by talent.

Even if Hakeem had out produced Calvin during that time. I'm obvious who is better. Name ONE thing Nicks does better than Calvin.

The NFL is an ever changing league. The passing games has really changed the last few years. I think it's more fair to compare what they did under those same rules.

    2009-2011

    Calvin Johnson: 45 Games - 240 Rec - 3,785 Yards - 33 TD
    Hakeem Nicks: 42 Games - 202 Rec - 3,034 Yards - 24 TD

It's still pretty close no question. Johnson appears to be more of a Red Zone threat. I think most agree Nick is one of the better receivers in the NFL. With production being so close between the two. I think the tie breaker is just that Calvin is superior from a physical standpoint in every way possible.

Um...Stafford was in college during the 2008 season. Johnson didn't miss a game.

What 10 games do you remember right?

    Maybe I'm confused

I like Stafford a lot, but he's not making Calvin Johnson. Megatron is the best player on your offense.

In fact in 2008 Calvin had 1,331 yards. I think it's pretty obvious he was a great receiver when he was putting that up with bums.

Just to be clear, I don't think Nicks is as good and dangerous as Megatron. I was just shocked by the stats when I looked at them.

I'm happy with my team as currently constructed. That being said, Megatron might be the biggest draw in the league in my opinion.

He may be the best, but Matty is far and away the most valuable. There is a difference.

Semantics. Nicks played a critical role in the Giants winning a Superbowl. A role that Johnson has yet to play.

Although 211 yards against the Saints ain't too shabby.

Detroit is dumb. No one is worth that type of money. They're going to have 1/3 of their cap tied up in 2 guys real soon, and Suh isn't far behind.

You can call him the franchise when Mr. Glass leads the Cryin's to the playoffs. That is if he can last an entire season with getting injured or pretending to have glove malfunctions.

Megatron is easily one of the best WRs in the league. I personally would take him over any other WR.

Stafford is maybe a top 10 QB, if you don't take injuries into consideration. If you do, he's not top 10.

Why shit on somebody awesome like Calvin Johnson to try and build up a QB who has played only 1 full and decent season?

His 1st 2 seasons he starts 13 games total and threw more ints than TDs. He had a decent season this year partially thanks to the monster that is Megatron.

    What Doors just said...

Johnson has a good year with 3 shitty QBs and a winless season.....Matty comes in and Johnsons stats go down. So by your logic.....

    Yeah.

I think Stafford has a ton of potential. But, to pretend Stafford made Calvin Johnson elite is kind of laughable. Calvin Johnson was wowing us when Stafford was still in college. He did great during both seasons Stafford ended up on the IR.

I just can't coorelated Johnson being Megatron with Stafford throwing him the ball. Sure QB stability is important but Johnson is so good pretty much any QB the Lions have started instantly connects with him.
