    Re: Whiskey drinker's thread

it taste good to me, jack, jim, turkey, makers, woodford, all best straight at room temp...

my question is single barrel is what it is because all other jack daniels is a blend of all the barrels and single barrel is taken from an individual barrel, so if u were gonna pay twice as much to have a single barrel flavor why would u mix it?

I don't know why people who like whiskey, mix it.

It's like saying, "Oh, I think I might enjoy some ice-cream, but I think I might mix it with some water, yummy"

    Re: Whiskey drinker's thread

Just finished a bottle of Jack I forgot I had. Also had a glass of Glenlivet, not bad for a cheaper scotch (at least to me). I had never had a sour mash whiskey and a scotch whiskey in such close proximity, the jack was very sweet, I prefer the scotch. I'm gonna have to put up some more money for a more expensive bottle, see if it's worth it.

Anyone ever tried whiskey from Buffalo Trace? I heard an interview with them on a podcast and really want to try some.

Never heard of it. This thread reminded me I have a bottle of Macallan in my liquor cabinet though. I'll save that for Christmas Eve.

Buffalo Trace is a great bourbon for the price. I would say the quality is just below Woodford Reserve and Knob Creek but at about half the price.

I like Jack fine, especially Gentleman Jack. On the rocks. MM is very good as well.

But I'm no whiskey aficionado either. I'll take great beer any day of the week.

I didn't like it myself. Too much of a 'cheap whiskey' aftertaste. Sipping and swallowing it was good but after it hit my stomach the taste in my mouth wasn't too my liking. Reminded me of Basil Hayden a bit.

Honestly, I'll drink pretty much any whiskey you put in front of me.

Kessler is really cheap and actually pretty good: http://www.beveragewarehouse.com/ima...ducts/2299.jpg

otherwise if I'm gonna spend a little more money I prefer Jameson, I probably would love Johnny Walker but its way too expensive for me.
