Re: What (besides politics) irritates you?
This happened on friday:
This is my first time working in a large corporate environment so maybe Im off base...
Our company has one main office building downtown here and then this separate building we rent of floor of where I work. Friday, a group of what seemed to be about 8 people from the other building came over here to use a conference room for the day. They brought with them this assistant type older man to set up the food they had catered. They had an exorbitant amount of food for this group. I came in and there were 4 kinds of coffee, tea, bagels, donuts, fruit etc. Then for lunch they had two trays of jimmy johns, more fruit, more snacks, cookies, various selection of sodas etc. I walked toward the lunch room to get my sandwich out of the fridge and it was clear they already did their lunch. More than half a tray of JJ's was still on the table, and when I opened the fridge there was another full tray (had to be like 20 4inch sandwiches per tray), 3 large bowls of diced fruits and other various drinks etc (this is all not counting what was laid out for the lunch spread). Then toward 2-3pm I noticed this guy who just sat there all day and basically monitored the food had again re-arranged the table to just have the snacks and drinks out. This all just seemed way over the top for a meeting that was absolute max 12 people.
Our floor here has about 30ish people, if they bought just a small amount of more food they couldve catered breakfast and lunch for the floor. The fact that they didnt isnt even what was irritating. As I saw all the food leftover between 2 and 3, I figured they would tell people to come grab something if they wanted... but nope, this assistant packed up all the shit and took it with him... You tell me youre saving this food/coffee/snack on a friday?
Like I said, this is the first Ive worked in a large corporate environment, but that was very irritating. The food was laid out like taunting me all day every time I filled up my tumbler or went to the bathroom.
Take me home, country roads...
