Re: Top 5 DMB shows 2009-present

Off the top of my head:
Alpine n2 2012 probably the best collection of songs in years and a perfect set for a casual/hardcore fans
Camden n2 2013 great performance as song selection
AC 2011

Re: Top 5 DMB shows 2009-present

I may be biased because i was there but how does Hartford N1 not get more love on the boards. Could the encore be better? yes but watchtower is still a great closer even if it is overplayed. For me there is not a single song i would skip that night. Just incredible from the start and the performance is great. The band brought it for the fans thats stayed through the crazy thunderstorms all day

My top 5 in no order:

    Alpine N2 2012
    Msg N2 2010
    AC n3 2011
    Camden n2 2013
    andd obviously the hartford show

    Honorable Mention: Philly 2012

If only they'd all gone to SPAC 09 n2. It'd be a real easy question to answer.

It's up there. Unpredictability means a lot in an era where predictable is a boring norm

    I like this thought

You can't get more predictable than 2014 which is sad when the 2 sets thing made people think they'd mix it up. After the first 10 shows in the tour you knew how the rest of the tour was gonna go.

Solid thinking. That spac show was amazing; just surprise after surprise. Typical and stone and Halloween with others mixed in there. Awesome show.

i think the real question that hasn't been asked in the MSG vs CVille debate is which show had special event socks? Hmm? Hmm? Pretty sure CVille wins that battle!

Ha! That's how I feel about The Great Chicago Pig Show circa 01. All I remember about it is how confused I was that he kept teasing Pig. Although I remember being relieved the next day that he really DID tease Pig through the whole show, and it wasn't just the shrooms talking.

Oh, and how I wished the Lovely Ladies would get bent.

SPAC 2008 was special ill never forget that (Last time I saw Roi too) but 2013 June was unreal... I remember Hartford and Camden like yesterday; awesome shows those weekends. Camden is still my favorite show of all time that I attended.

That's a tough one. On one hand you have Roi and his return to great playing as well as the return of Tim Reynolds. On the other hand the sets were not as good as 2013. The sets in June 2008 were very odd in my opinion. I don't HATE these songs, but the sets were filled with cover songs (odd choices like Bitch) and Some Devil songs as well as Cornbread, Bayou, Sister and Smooth Rider. I got the worst encore I've ever had at any show that year in Mansfield:

    Sister
    Thank you

I also got the BEST Two Step I've ever heard (better than Hershey a couple days later IMO) and So Damn Lucky was phenomenal that night as well. However, if there was a two night stand then it was guaranteed you would get Thank You as the final song of night 2. That's the first time I've ever left a show early.

That Thank You > Thank you (reprise) at WPB in '12 was soul-crushing. That's the most disappointed ending to a show in my history of seeing them live.

june 08. people who were around for both times should realize this answer easily with the excitement and freshness that was going on during this period.

the excitement was at a level we hadn't seen in years. and we had Roi.

Roi just seemed like his old self in 2008 after seeming disinterested and sounding bad from 2005-2007

Well said. I remember getting re-obsessed with DMB in 2008, with the return of Tim and the band sounding so good. Yet I saw both nights at Camden, and neither show is even remotely memorable me. The Dreaming Tree opener for N1 was pretty amazing, but other than that, neither set was anything to revisit.
