Did people like the 2014 tour?

I get the impression that everyone was kind of disappointed about the two set (one acoustic, one electric) split. I didn't see any of the shows, but I bought live trax 32 and I downloaded another show and honestly I quite liked them. The band seems more revitalized and seems to be enjoying the music a bit more. The seem to be having more fun playing the songs. So I was curious what everyone else's impression was and what they liked/disliked about the 2014 tour?

I enjoyed the 3 shows I attended (Holmdel, Camden x2) with Camden N1 being very good and the opening run of Camden N2's electric set being the only bad point. It was a terrible year to travel to see the band multiple times, tracking sets, downloading shows etc. The band didn't sound as clean as in the past, with Boyd being pretty much flat out bad, and the setlists were extremely repetitive and predictable all tour. Overall, not a good year for the band but I was at least pleased with the shows I attended.

5 - good concept, poor execution.

I noticed something around the time of Big Whiskey. Boyd seems to be phased out completely at a lot of the shows and in the Big Whiskey album. Granted, it's a great album, but I really missed Boyd's parts. Was his presence a little bigger this tour?

I love Boyd as a person but he sounded pretty god awful this summer.

Somewhat. He had featured solos during the acoustic sets especially which were prominent but he didn't sound very good and the "skrees" were more than usual. Some of that could be attributed to his surgery, especially early in the tour but he's been declining for years.

I thought it was a cool idea, but there certainly some aspects that could have been improved on. It's still pretty hard to be beat Dave Matthews Band opening for Dave Matthews Band though.
